Day 12 of walking the Camino. I am finding it easier now. Have some hot spots on my feet and am taping them each morning but all sore body parts at days end are feeling good next morning. Yea!
The terrain is much different now, and the temp. Low mountains, more hills, no vineyards, field after field of hay, the odd herd of sheep, quite cold in am and evenings going to 15-18 in the afternoon. Some drizzly wet days. No fig or olive trees anymore. I miss the fresh figs. Sigh.
Stayed in a converted parish attached to the village church last night, monks used to live there. Quite the experience. Slept on a mat on the top floor below the rafters. Communal dinner which we made.,..delicious!
Having a spectacular time. Thinking a lot about life as I walk each day, often alone. What I am thankful for, what is important, what I value. When I agreed to do this walk I was really not sure why, so now I think the answer is slowly unfolding. Interesting discussions with fellow pelegrinos from all over the globe.
We walked thru Santo Domingo yesterday, stopped for lunch and just happened to watch the Santo Domingo festival and parade. Looked like the whole town was part of it.
The thought of another 540 km is daunting but we are approx 1/3 rd thru, so each morning is one foot in front of the other. I will do this.
I will blog again in a few days.
P.S. I love the food!
