Today I spent virtually a whole day on the Greyhound getting from Cairns to Airlie Beach, an 11 hour journey which wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but it's the first time I'm beginning to comprehend just how HUGE Australia really is! There's not alot to look at along the way, although during a quick stop off for breakfast in Caldwell there was a mini lookout beach. Lucky I didn't walk along it for long though since a few metres down there was a sign warning about crocodiles!
Airlie Beach seems like a cool place - full of backpackers waiting to get their cruise to the Whitsundays. The hostel is ok, not as nice as the one in cairns and the poor girl on the bunk below me has got some bites from bed bugs. The name of the place is also a bit misleading since there isn't really a beach! But a nice lagoon and I wandered into the town in the evening for a look around and browse of the market on the 'beach'.
