Retired & Traveling
We left port about 6:00 p.m. & headed out to sea. We couldn't believe how calm the water was. When we woke up this morning, it was a little choppier, but nothing to make the ship rock. We've been so lucky with both the weather & the calm seas. My cough was worse in spite of taking the antibiotics, so I took it easy. Teena, Brian & I went to see the head chef of the ship do a cooking demonstration & then got a peek at just one of the 9 galleys on the ship. The amount of food that they prepare daily is mind-boggling--I think they said something like 150,000 TONS of food is prepared on this cruise!
Another thing that is beyond comprehension to me is how these people live on this ship...some of them have been on the Princess ships for over 35 years!! I don't know how you'd have a family, but I guess it works for them.
Rich was off watching a movie out by one of the pools, so I went thru our buffet line & brought lunch back to the room & watched a movie on tv. Brian & Teena were off playing some of the onboard games, and Rich & I went exploring the ship & enjoyed a drink in one of the ship's lounges. We had another formal night, so after a few glasses of wine on the balcony, we got dolled up & went off to the theater to see the dancers perform a takeoff on Alice in Wonderland.
We'd made reservations at one of the ship's nicer restaurants, Sabatini's. We celebrated our anniversaries (32 years for both couples), but I was feeling awful--I'd started running a fever & had the chills so I couldn't really enjoy the food at all. I was so disappointed and by the time I got back to the room, my fever was over 102. :( So much for taking the antibiotics!! Nothing like being sick on your vacation.
