Day 57
Our first day in Nice was quite a chilled one as we just wanted to kick back and hit the beach. After we moved out of the dirtiest apartment we had ever seen, we walked around town looking for somewhere better to stay. Finding only really expensive or fully booked hostels we reconsidered going back to where we were. However after remembering how creepy the place was, we decided to fork out the bit extra and go somewhere livable.
We slowly made our way to the beach, checking out what Nice had to offer along the way. We popped into many shops and checked out some weird sculptures making the walk there very slow. When we finally got there we were amazed, the beach was like nothing we had seen before.
Rather than sand the beach had small stones everywhere making walking and lying down quite a painful challenge. The water was a weird light blue colour and refreshingly cold which made for some great swimming. However getting in and out was also quite a sore endeavor as every time a wave splashed our feet it brought some big rocks with it.
After running into our German friend from the train we decided it was time to leave the beach and head back to our place. A quick shower and a change and we were out again, off to dinner at a place hilariously entitled Hippopotamus.
From there we took another walk into town hoping to see the nightlife of nice. Finding buskers everywhere we stumbled up and down the streets checking out the breakdancers, salsa dancers as well as rather peculiar man who danced with a glass ball. From there we made our way into the old city checking out the bar scene. Finding a pub with live music we sat down and chilled for a bit listening to them play some of our favourites.
Eventually it got late and we called it a night. We were happy to once again come home and be able to sleep in beds of our own.
