Lots to quickly update on...
Its been a busy few days, 1st evening (Monday) involved aimless wondering and stumbling across Raffles, the masses of bars and restuarants in the quays. Amazing atmosphere and presentation with restaurants for every pallet it was difficult to decide, in the end settled for a Spicy beef and noodles with a couple of Tigers.
Tuesday hot but cloudy, headed out to southwest Singapore and the pasrks, starting with an interesting tribute to those that served in the war. following this brief but detailed education I walked the camopy walk at Kent Ridge park followed by the Southern Ridges walk which took in the impressive henderson waves with views of both the city and Sentosa Island. At the end of the southern ridges walk us Mount faber, which provided stunning views of the city and more. Burger and cider in hand I watched the sun set from behind me looking onto the city before catching the cable car over to Sentosa.
Sentosa appears to be a a funfair island with the hard rock cafe providing a life concert, a vibrant atmosphere and great views of the main land.
Back on the cable car to the mainland and a sling at a restaurant overlooking sentosa.
Wedesday was an early start with an hour and half journey to the zoo....taxi turns out to be much much quicker. Breakfast with the Orangutans and a snake was a great start. A scorcher of a day with sun blazing made for a great day all round. And i saw a polar bear!
For dinner went acros sto the Tekka centre hawkers and enjoyed a delightful chicken murtabak (aptly named) with cheese. Street food works. Essentially a massive indian flatbread with onions and chicken and cheese, with a bowl of curry sauce to tear and dunk it in. Eaten in the steamy hawker centre.
Thursday, overslept. Not a disaster as it was raining all morning. Hit Orchard road to see the fuss about all the shopping. I still cannot believe the extent of thesemalls, you can go streets without surfacing with walkways and underground sections meaning you do not to leave the malls. The recently built ION Orchard features a viewing floor on levels 55 and 56 that provides 360 views of Singapore and this was really good, free as well! Orchard central features outoor escalastors, and rooftop gardens.
In the evening I made a trip back to the zoo for the night safari, firebreathers and a buffet to start, then out into the wilderness. Great fun. Got taxi driver to drop me somewhere random on the way home for a bit of adventure.
I have uploaded photos, they should be viewable under my profile.
