Bali High may call you - well it called me, and i picked up.
Flew in from Singapore, had to pay for entry - the cheek! Then taxi'd to our first place of residence. It was ok, but not great. Slept a bit then checked out the beach at night, quite buzzy - had a Pizz Hut, very Indonesian.!
The next day moved to another place, Kedin's Inn - much better. Friendlier people, great pool, bar/restaurant, breakfast included. We then went to the beach - not very nice - it was overcast and there was rubbish everywhere! Boo! So that was basically the last time we were on the beach.
Bali days and nights flew by - we had some great meals, at bargain prices. We stayed next to the pool for the most part, ventured out in the blazing sun to check out the nearest shopping centre - which was mediocre. Nights were either spent watching movies in a couple of restaurants - they projected them on screens while you ate/drank - or going clubbing to Paddy's and Bounty - interchangeable and free so you could leave one when the music changed and check out next door - some dodgy looking ladies and gents in there but mostly fun (drunken) traveller types. Only saw the one fight and it ended very quickly. One night was a 'pool' party - big paddling pool in the middle of the dance floor - very slippy, an accident waiting to happen. But that's Bali, very laid back.
Was here for Australia Day - They gave it large in gold and green that night!
Films watched include - Defiant, Burn After Reading, College, Marley and Me, The Dark Knight, What Happens In Vegas, amongst others.
I will never forget the night it rained....pee'd it down, the roads flooded. 2 seconds in that and you were drenched - was great to see from the safety of the bar sipping Bintang beer!
Next stop, Sydney, Australia
