First, well done if you didn't fall for my April Fool Blog - and if you did, oh well.
The journey continues - travelled a whole day from the Island of Fiji, to Auckland, NZ - got a half empty 747 so had a row of seats to ourselves, watched Twilight....cool. Then, on to Santiago....thanks to crossing the dateline we arrived before we left NZ after a 10 hr flight - but with no sleep. I watched Yes Man and Little Miss Sunshine....Yes Man is immediately funnier but would recommend the latter to the Indie movie fans. Sharan and i bussed it in to town then made for the guesthouse on foot, a friendly nun gave us directions....quite easy to walk, and not 17 blocks like some dodgy cab driver suggested at the airport!
Slept like a log then dragged ourselves up to the local chinese - diving straight in to the South American culture there! The next day we jumped on the metro, walked all around the city seeing some amazing buildings and watching the Santiago people go about there business. Had an 'empanada' or two then returned to the guesthouse. Headed out once more for a Burro Luca which is like a bacon sandwich with cheese - yum - before crashing.
The people at the guesthouse were great, very friendly and helped me practice my Spanish which i have never really used until now! Last time was 10 years ago!!!
Saturday - went to the bus station, bought some tickets and made the 6hr trip South to Concepcion - watched the Mummy 3, which is better in Spanish, Another Cinderella Story, and most of the newest X Files movie....in spanish. Sharan slept.
