Tuesday May 8th
Today we left for Fribourg on British Airways flight 730. It was a short flight and to our surprise we were met, not only by Jennifer, but also by Gabe. They came by car and consequently we were driven through the beautiful Swiss countryside rather than travelling by train.
Upon arrival we were surprised to see how large, bright, airy, and classy Jennifer's and Gabe's appartment is.
Gabe headed off for a band practice.
Judy and I settled in, having shared most of a single, large, delivery pizza -$38 -Yikes! with Jennifer.
I then checked emails and hockey scores and then worked a bit on the website. Jennifer and Gabe had us set up in their very comfortable room and new bed. They took up residence on a matress in their den\bedroom.
Wednesday May 9th
Gabe and Jennifer both went off to work early. Judy and I arose ate and relaxed - she with a book-me with the computer. Jennifer returned home with her charges, Vincent and Morgan ( 2 in June) and Damion (about 6 weeks old). Together we took a bus to Esther and David Gumy's to meet Esther (David was at work) and spend some time with her and Jennifer and the children. I made an effort to converse with a lovely lady on the bus who reciprocated happily. I also made an effort to carry on some conversation with Esther who later went to join David for lunch. The children were entranced with my ability to make things disappear and reappear elsewhere. Unfortunately they though that the way to accomplish the same feat was to throw the little objects so I had to discontinue the game. Around 12:30 p.m. Jennifer made Judy and I some pasta and lunch for the children. After that the children were put to bed for their afternoon nap. We had pre-arranged to call Stacey around 2:00 p.m. and we spoke to her briefly. Judy and I then walked home with directions from Jennifer. Nothing to it! I then worked on the computer and Judy caught up with her journal and transferred older notes to a new book purchased at Heathrow.
When Jennifer and Gabe had both returned from work they took us out for a drink and cheese fondue evening at Restaurante Marcello - their treat! Jennifer and Judy started with wonderful salads that included curried corn and creamy coconut accompanied by Loeil de Perdrix (a rosé wine) Gabe and I had bread with a plate of finely sliced beef washed down with a couple of beers one of which was Cardinal Spéciale - a beer especially created this year to celebrate Fribourg's 850th anniversary. After dining we toured old Fribourg - driving and walking. What picturesque sites we were given the opportunity to see.
