Hello Hello Hello!!
Just a very quick update as our access to the internet hasn't been very good and we've been up to so much! So sorry in advance for a very brief blog!
After Luang Prabang we got the slow boat to the thai border which was stunning but very boring in places as we battled the uncomfortable wooden benches for 10hours a day surrounded by locals!
After arrival in thailand we headed straight to chian mai where we explored the city on scooter where we visited temples, tiger kingdom to play with tigers and many more bits, did a thai cooking course (I am a master of green curry now....supposedly lol) and also did a bit of an adventure day in the surrounding hills (inc. elephants, rafting, trekking, a hilltribe etc)! Its been the usual hectic route as always and following chiang mai we ventured down to Ayutthaya which around an hour outside of Bangkok.
Ayutthaya is predominantly an area for temples now following its industrial past. Some of the temples are stunning but the town itself lacks any real charm. This wasn't helepd by our grubby guesthouse, with 'air con' that blew out hot air and internet that didn't work (my excuse!). After two nights we left and now we find oursleves in the urban jungle that is Bangkok.
Had a chance to explore the city for a day and a bit visiting Khaosan market (we're staying near by), the siam aquarium which is unreal and an amazing deep sea experience as well as hunting for fakes! We got told a tip for getting fake handbags/bags and went down some rather dodgy markets where we were shown down alleys etc before coming to shut up metal shutters that once opended revealed a number of fakes! However, every place we asked led us to the same on from a different direction and its fakes were good but not what Emily was looking for. The experience on the other hand was incredible!
Next few days will be spent at the temples, flight of the gibbon, china town, pat pong market and we check into a lovely hotel on the 13th for our last night before the islands.
All the best to everyone at home! Got around 4 weeks left! Not long now so make sure you dust down your best outfits, buy gifts and generally get exicted for my return!
