New Zealand ey!
after a short plane flight, we made it to new zealand, or more importantly Auckland or AK city. Tom and I got our vodka from duty free..we paid in pounds..nice... then we started to worry, we have no dollars, and no-where to stay tonite because we cannot get through to Sam Cosgriff's mobile number. unreliable little goat. so i contemplate ringing his house number. we pass customs, and all that, although tom's bag gets searched. i think they saw his speedo's in the xray machine and needed to confiscate them. but as we pass through the gate, there he is..Sam Cosgriff is waiting to get us. unbelievable. what a reliable little goat!! fully relieved we follow him up to where him and his friends are having breakfast. james bennett/beno who i had already met in england. and anthony nutyrl/nutch. who was a completely new experience. this boy is tommy gillette x10. he is a complete crazy maniac. so so funny though. we go back to sam's house at about 12:30 and crack out the London Dry Gin. not even kidding. G'n'Ts on the lawn. we also made up a new game, its kind of like boules but its better and played with disks. its called Disks. so at 2pm we have gone through a bottle of gin between 5 of us. funny funny stuff. then beno had to go and work. slightly worse for wear, in a posh hotel as a barman. we after a pint in an irish pub, although its not really a pint, its 500ml. we went to visit beno, who looked really happy to see us and to be working..
it was happy hour at this hotel, so 4dollars for a beer was really good. and also beno gave a powerhouse whisky and coke. for free. we met another of sams friends aswel, another anthony. then we got the train back to sams, but got picked up by another of sams friends, 'Sully'. that night we watched some rugby and drank a few beers. met alot more friends but they all kind of blended into one. oh there was another guy we met, hugh. funny lad, could be very english as he likes cigars and fine scotch. not even kidding.
we met sams parents the day before briefly, they were really nice. really nice. considering me and tom are in their house eating and drinking and the rest. we met them properly that morning, Dr john cosgriff, who i asked about my tummy. its not appendicitis. phew. and louise, really cool. Nutch came over early aswel as did Tom(another tom). 4 of us went around the neighborhood in Nutch's car and went to the bakery for some lunch. chicken and mushroom pie and chicken pie. we're definately experiencing traditional NZ cuisine. that night we all went out to Ak city for a night out. knowing full well that we needed to catch the Kiwi experience up to the Bay of Islands at 6:50am. so we went out at about 11 or 12 and had an awesome time. tom Mckee got very lost and we couldnt find him at all. seriously, lost. Nutch got punched. but a very good evening. I got back to sams house at 6am. tom was already there to my relief. we got up at 625. apparently i wouldn't wake up so tom covered my mouth and pinched my nose till i woke up. good stuff tom. feeling fully aware and sharp Dr john cosgriff drove us to the pick up point. got on the bus and fell asleep. bliss. woke up and i had missed everything, signing up for activities, accomodation and important announcements. sweet as. arrived at Base accommodation- the pippi patch. really nice beds, nice mattress and bliss! we got duvets too! we were lazy that day, stayed in bed sleeping off the hangover. then we went out that night to the club next door. did a bit of kareoke- bon jovi. we could have won a free bungee jump or skydive if we won, but alas we were crap. went to sleep for a good night sleep. had to be up at 930 to get to our 'Excitor' fast boat ride to the hole in the rock.
we woke up too early that morning and had to walk 15 mins to the docks to get to the excitor! after a long briefing about how dangerous it can be we set of...obviously me and tom sat at the front, the most dangerous part and where we would get the most wet! after 2 minutes we realised that the sea was flatter than a millpond and that it was slightly raining...so it felt like hailstones on our face... so it was just a fast painful boat ride to a big rock with a little hole in it. and then we had to drive the whole way back. all in all not very exciting or impressive. that afternoon me and tom wandered around the town and got fish and chips. that night we destined ourselfves to get drunk. we did. very drunk...
