Well hello everyone! It has been a while sinse my last report, New York was in fact my last posting location! So here is the catch up...
On the 24th myself and three others from the last part of the tour met up with our new group. It was very odd not seeing the faces of all the others whom had already finished and whom I had grown so fond of!
So the new groups nicknames are as follows... Giggles, Cubes, Noddy, Britney, Disco, Tetley, Georgia, Boons and Princess. Also myself, Mr & Mrs Smith, and Roxy are still here too.
So as I was saying, on the 24th the new group started with a long drive to Washington DC. We drove through Phillidelphia and we visited the Liberty Bell and the steps from Rocky. The rest of the day was a nightmare day as there were several accidents on the roads and we didn't arrive in DC until late evening! When we did arrive we just went out for dinner at a restraunt called 'Old Glory' and then to the camp.
On the 25th we had a free day in DC so we visited Arlington Cemetery, which was impressive, and then we went to the post office and then visited the monuments in the capitol. We also visited the Holocaust Museum, which was very interesting, although a bit hard hitting. Then we did an illuminated tour of the Korean Memorial, the Lincon memorial and the Washington memorial. Then it was back to camp.
On the 26th we left DC and made for the Smokey Mountains. Once at camp we had a good meal and then drank alot until the early hours... the rest I keep to myself!
On the 27th we drove to Ocoee, Tennessee. On the way to camp we stopped in Lynchberg and visited the Jack Daniels Whisky Company. There we went on a guided tour of the site and found out all about how it was produced etc etc, and it was great! Then once at our camp we went White Water Rafting, something I had put off until now, but it was amazing!!! Then once again it was a night at camp with a few drinks!
On the 28th we drove to Meridian, MS and went out for dinner at at place called Cracker Barrels, which was nice. Then camp.
On the 29th we arrived in New Orleans! It was late when we arrived but our whole group went out and it was a very messy night!!! We all stayed in a big house and it was like being in the Big Brother house!
The next day, the 30th, we had a free day in New Orleans so some of us got up early and went for coffee. Then we wandered around for a bit before we went on an historic steamer cruise on the Mississippi river aboard the steamer Naches. After that we went around town a bit more before going out at night again!!! The Hand Grenade, and the Hurricane cocktails are devestating!!!
On the 31st we spent the day driving to Houston. In the evening we went to the Minute Maid baseball stadium and watched the Astros beat the Reds 10-2, their first win in ten games! We must have been good luck!
On the 1st we drove to Del Rio and visited the Alamo in San Antonio on the way, which was interesting! In the night we crossed the border into Mexico and went out for drinks!
Today, the 2nd, we have driven to Carlsbad and visited the Carlsbad Caves, which were very impressive and so amazingly big! Tonight we are just chilling in camp.
So that is us up to date. Still to come... Grand Canyon, Zion and Vegas amongst many places... cool!!!
So I shall leave you all now and catch up again soon.
John aka Jersey aka Baity signing off.....
