Grapes... Lots of grapes. And the occasional pumpkin.
About a 40 minute drive from Wellington we got work on a vineyard picking grapes. Martinborough is only a small place with a population of about 1400 but is well known for grapes and wine.
This review is really just for anyone looking for work as we were very wary of farm work from bad experiences in Australia. But if your in the north island looking for work then try speaking to Jawl. She does everything above board and is such a lovely, kind person.
Jawl will put you in accommodation for $100 a week which has everything you need to get by and hopefully save the money you need. Always willing to help you out if you needed it, completely changed our opinion of farm work.
Along with great people we worked and lived with our Martinborough grape picking experience was thoroughly enjoyed.
