Today we got up early and watched the sunrise over the canyon which gave a whole new view of the canyon with so many different colors and shades. We checked out and drove to a couple of other viewpoints on our way out of the park. We saw some wild deer grazing on the paths near the canyon. We headed towards Utah, stopped at another viewpoint to look at the canyon surrounding the little Colorado river, it was just flat land then all of a sudden it drops away to nothing. We stopped to use the restrooms at a Mexican Navajo McDonald's then arrived in monument valley. The valley is full of these incredible stone formations, it's so hard looking at them to believe they are natural rock, they look like they are ancient man made structures. We stopped at a deserted town called Bluff where we could only find one dodgy diner/servo open so we ordered grilled cheese sandwiches off a lady with a deformed arm, it felt like all of a sudden we had driven straight into a zombie movie, pretty creepy so we hauled ass outta there! After lunch we drove along the edge of Canyonlands National Park where we saw more canyons and unusual rock formations. We also saw Wilson's Arch a stone arch like that in Arches National Park. We headed on towards Grand Junction where we are stopping for the night. Aspen tomorrow!
