24/8/2011:
Still in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) we went to see the Cu Chi tunnels in the morning. These are where the tunnels that the communist soliders were using during the Vietnam war. Our tour guide was called Hi and he was a local who sided with the Americans during the war. His knowledge was therefore vast and it was encharting to hear an unbias view of what really happened during the war. He told us an amazing story of how he survived after the Americans had left, his time in a re-education camp and how he had recently found his American commander from all those years ago. We walked through a portion of the tunnel which was 100m long, several of the larger members of the group had to exit after 20m as the tunnel was just too small.
After lunch and relaxing in the afternoon we got on the sleeper train to Nha Trang. We spent the evening partying on the train!

We arrived into Nha Trang feeling rather lathargic, our tour guide then announced that we would be having a beach party to lift our spirits. This cost $25 for pretty much all you could eat and drink, we didnt go mad but we still had fun! The beach party was top - we had rubber rings for the beautiful see so ofcourse took a few beers out with us while peacefully floating on them. Our guide BBQ'd a local delecasy for us and made us try it before he told us what it was. IT WAS DOG!!! Some of the group were not impressed but several of us thought it was amazing so had another round.
We arrived back to the hotel at around 4pm and after a loz around the pool Me, charlotte and Steve decided to skip dinner and go and have a few beers on the beach.
I shared a room with Adrian - A rugby mad South African so the banter was high!

I awoke early and went and sat by the pool for a few hours to reflect on my trip so far, or so I thought as the German guy told me he had seen me snoozing when he awoke.
We had a free day so we decided to do a walking tour of the city of Nha Trang. We visited churches, a pagoda and the Cham Tower (see blog picture). This was a hard morning as it was blisteringly hot and there were several thick heads, I started the day fine (think a may have been a little drunk still) but deterioated rapidly.
We spent the afternoon in a much needed spa for $8, during this time we enjoyed a mud bath, jacuzzis and pools. I was the only bright spark who decided to put his head in the mud - was not my best idea as I am still picking mud out of my nose. On the plus side the whole group looked like me when we got out - not the only token!
We had a lovely uniqe evening meal at a local street resturant where the waiters bought BBQ's and meat to our table. There was lots and it was ace!
That evening we made our way to the train station for the sleeper train to Hoi An. Before we boarded me and an American guy, Drew, played a game of slaps. The locals loved it and before we knew it a large crowd had gathered to watch it. Everyone found it hilarious that two western giants were slapping the s*** out of each other at a train station - or they may have just thought we were a pair of western prats! Whilst on the sleeper train I taught the group how to play ring of fire and we preceeded to polish of 4 bottles of $2 rum, not a bad effort really.
Have to go anyway guys but will update the last few days soon. I am still well and am enjoying myself. I am with a really good group of people and tour guide.
Speak to you all soon,
Aaron X
