People took gifts when visiting over Tet. Sometimes just a packet of biscuits and some fruit in a bag. Sometimes a large pre-wrapped hamper from a shop. People also made up their own. All things from the mundane (cooking oil) to the exotic (imported brandy) came in special Tet wrapping.
