Well, this is my first blog entry... I feel so very my-spacey! And from Sobernheim, so very exotic!
I'm sitting in the loungy-area (well, it's a one room apartment, so there's no loungeROOM as such) of my little apartment, having a lazy sunday afternoon. It's Kirmes weekend here in Sobernheim, so all arvo I've been listening to lots of squeals and screams from this weird tea-cups disco ride they have, Justin Timberlake (why they feel the need to play bad music when you're on those things I'll never understand. They already make me feel like throwing up, I don't need another reason) and a reeeeeally annoying guy shouting 'wollt ihr schneller fahren oder WIEEEEE?!!' every five minutes. I haven't exactly figured out what Kirmes is yet, but it seems to be really just an excuse for a festival. They also call it the 'Jahres Fest' so i guess it's just like a Willy Fest type of thing.... Except that it's Germany so there are three times as many bratwurst stalls and sweet stalls as rides and sideshow games and of course a beer tent that's twice the size of the rest of the festival! Later when all the rides quieten down the drinking will start up again, and I'll be treated to drunken renditions of 'einen stern' and 'viva colonia' long into the night again. Although the fest finishes tomorrow and I have to say that I think i'm actually going to kind of miss it....
Other than that, there's not a whole lot going on at the moment. I'm just working and hanging out in Sobernheim, trying not to spend any money (and failing dismally) and getting geared up to go to Italy next week! Jess and her mum come through Frankfurt tomorrow morning. I had thought about going up to meet them but it turns out they're only going to be there for about an hr so it didn't really seem worth it. Bit of a bummer because I'm badly itching to see someone from home! But as it is I'll see her soon enough (and in ROME!) and I'll be catching up with Cina even sooner in Venice, so that will be awesome!
So, as a first blog entry I don't think that went too badly! Now if only I can remember to keep this updated alot more frequently than I send emails, I'll be set :)
