Dear Rosemary and Bill, just checked your progress... so glad all is good. We envy you West Africa, so many magical sounding places. Kenya in the middle of drought and much of our days are spent helping the game scouts escort 'invading' cattle through the conservation area without using up all the community's precious water! Many leopards in and out of our camp so my dog sleeps close to me! Look forward to hearing your next instalment. Enjoy it all, Gill and John

Hi Gill
We are a bit behind in our update but are trying to catch up now that we in Ghana. Camping at a beach resort bet. Accra and Tema see www.akwaaba-beach.de
Have now got to decide how to proceed.
Great to hear from you again. We saw some news about the drought the other day it sounded bad and the Masai were wanting to graze their cattle in the National Parks but without success. Hope all is progressing well with your plans .

What a lovely surprise to hear from you and hope both yourself and Muhammed are well. Moby might not be as handsome but he has certainly performed well so far! I wonder if you still ride or visit the club in Amman?
Great to know that you will be following our journey hopefully there will soon be some more installments!
Our best wishes to you both for 2006.

Dear Rosemary and Bill,
Many thanks for the postcard
WOW ! what a fabulous trip you are taking. I believe Africa is an amazing continent, full of colour both in flora and fauna and culturally. Wish I had the bottle to do what you are doing. So many times Luai has said we should embark on such a trip, but I have never followed it up thinking it would be too much driving. Beirut England was our epic trip.
We wish you all the very best, good luck and safe journey.
Carole and Luai.

Dear Carole and Luai
Great to hear from you and know that you are following our trip. It`s never too late to embark on something similar! Your trip from Beirut to England must also have been a great one but yes, it is a lot of driving and there is not much spare time when we are on the road. Hope to update more news shortly.
Our best wishes and Happy New Year to both of you .

A Happy New Year to you both. Just had an opportunity to catch up with youir web site whilst my class are learning the delights of spreadsheets! Glad to hear you are well and having a great time and that Moby is performing well. We had snow just after Christmas - all gone now! Melon now back in light work and seems OK. Tony has taken her to Camber Sands today, lucky him as I'm at school.
I look forward to future reports on your trip of a lifetime. Love to you both from us and all at Parklands.

Happy New Year to you both too and all at Parklands. So pleased to hear that Melon is back in light work and hope she makes a full recovery without any set backs. Am sure you would both enjoy riding along the coast here in Ghana but the waves are very big! Ghana is the first country in W. Africa that does`nt seem to have many horses and donkeys.
Hope your Land Rover performed well in the snow! Moby is having less work to do at the moment as we decide how to progress with our journey.
Best wishes to you both.

To ALL from Ségou-Mali : Rosemary & Bill left us 2day for the second time, this time unfortunately for good, they left at around noon after a last lebanese coffee at the hotel Independence. They left in good health and spirit towards the burkinabé border and should be by now 11:30 at night in Bobo Dioulasso in Burkina Faso. Their plan is to get their visa for Ghana in Ougadougou and take it from there to Ghana, Togo, Benin etc.
We from here wish them and ofcourse all their family members & friends too an excellent 2006, positive vibs, good health an even better fortune. For 2day this was Mark from Ségou, over and

Congratulations on reaching Timbuckto! Thanks for Mali postcard and the unusual and lovely xmas card.
Mild and dry here. Auntie Babs not so well last few weeks, is to have an oxygen cylinder for occasional use, has
to be careful not to do too much. Glad you escaped the policeman re tent on the roof! A very Happy Christmas to you both. Don't get too much sand in the Christmas pudding. Love from us both. Michael.
We are so glad all the post is reaching you. We really enjoyed Timbuktu and have sent a postcard from there to you also. Hope the mild and dry weather continues, it is still hot here during the day but nice and cool in the mornings and evenings. Spending Xmas in Mopti and thinking of you both over Xmas.
Do hope Auntie Babs is feeling better now.
No fear of getting sand in the pudding or cake as we can only dream of them!
Love to you bothxxxxx
Colin
Hi Looks like you having a great time , we are getting ready for xmas and hoping for snow soon. I came across this joke and just have to pass it on ( hope you dont get in a hot spot but if you did )
A man and his wife were travelling in Africa when they were apprehended by a tribe of very hostile cannibals who put them in a large pot of water, built a huge fire under it, and left them there.
A few minutes later, the man started to laugh uncontrollably.
The wife couldn't believe it! And said, ''What's wrong with you? We're being boiled alive! They're gonna eat us! What could possibly be funny at a time like this?''
The man replied, ''I just peed in the soup
wishing you a happy xmas and a safe journey
Colin and Karina
Good to hear from you. Great joke that we read and laughed about in Timbuktu! Hope you get some snow for Xmas, not any chance of that here in Mopti where we are spending Xmas and then heading for Burkina Faso and Ghana for the New Year.
We wish you all a very happy Xmas and New Year.
