Hi everyone! Not sure how many people still look at this blog anymore considering it's only me on here! So we're making our way through the Northern Territory and so far have driven over 5,000KM which is mega distance. In a place called Alice Springs, not the nicest place but just a stop over on our way back to the east coast. We are going to be on the road again tomorrow and the next couple of days heading east.
Uluru (picutred) was amazing, although I did think MT Conner, which is a huge rock before you come to Ayers rock was the actual famous rock itself. Took loads if pictures and couldn't believe how beautiful it was, only to discover 90KM later, it wasn't Ayers rock at all, it was a completely different landmark!! We got their and it was reall warm, slightly windy but still warm. We saw people walking up the side of it and thought how steep it was!I decided not to climb it, i tried got to the railings (chicken run) and got dizzy and everything so had to come back down (major fear of heights kicked in) Adam and Nick powered through and completed the climb in two hours, while i sat chatting to locals and travellers! We watched sunset that same day which was awesome, the rock famously changes colour and it was worth going to see. We stayed in a great campsite, called Ayers Rock Resort. Far from a resort i'd like to be staying in, some of the hotels where out of this world!!But everyone was friendly and it was nice to have loads of people about. It made it a nicer atmosphere than some of the creepy places we've stayed where we were pretty sure people lived.
Next day we set of for another famous outback landmark, Kings Canyon! We did a 6KM walk, and now my legs are totally killing me! It brought us high up into the Canyon and the views were amazing. Glad I did this walk. Would recommend it! I've also started to get a tan on again! It's great hopefully be nice and brown for New Zealand and then top up in the USA at the end of August!
We are now a place north of there, called Alice Springs. Its a HUGE town compared to what we've been used to along the way, has a supermarket and a mall so we have to stock up on supplies before we drive off again and expect to pay 2pounds for a tin of beans!
So far along the ay we've sene some wild animals, really random selection. Camel, Emu, Horse, Eagles, Hawk, Snake, Kangeroo and Walliby! Pretty cool! These were all spotted whilst we where driving! I also killed a bird! Couldn't believe it, completely heartbroken but at least i didnt flip the car trying to save it!haha
I will update the blog when i get to the east coast! :) Hope everyone is well!!
