Konnichiwa!
I'm in a different world now compared to Fiji and the United states. Everything is different, the trees, the cars, the signs, the chopsticks, the people who bow all the time and the fact that NOBODY speaks English. After I met my parents and sister in Tokyo we've walked as many kilometres as possible to try to cover everything in Tokyo in 4 days. The Asakusa temple, the national museum, electric town Akihabara (an ipod is just 150 euros!), shopping heaven Shinjuku and Harajuku (especially for my sister…) and the fishmarket at 6 in the morning.
After Tokyo we went with the shinkansen (the bullet train) to Hakone-Yumoto, a village near mt. Fuji, but the Fuji likes to hide in her kimono (the clouds) so wasn't visible. We took the cable car to volcanic with sulphurfumes coming out of the ground, and the mountains covered in fog, very spooky. Fortunately the next morning the fog was gone and the fuji took off her kimono around 7 am so we spotted her!
After 2 nights Hakone we took the shinkansen again to Kyoto where we arrived today. Kyoto is very different from Tokyo, the buildings are smaller, it's more relaxed and even MORE temples, it's the old capital of Japan and plumbed full with beautiful temples.
In the next week we'll see more of Kyoto and this area (southern part of Honshu island), I'll try to climb the Fuji and look for a surf spot somewhere along the coast (the surf is supposed to be really good in Japan), and after Tokyo again! I'll be leaving Japan September 7th so my journey around the world has almost come to and end... well, I'm going to bed, sayonara!
