glooww worms!! A quick one night stay here. The hostel is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. No drinking for us...or so we thought!! First stop, the black water rafting place....
Getting into the wetsuits they gave us was hilarious. they were absolutely soaking wet as we were the last party of the day. We all hauled each other in. We were the laughing stock of the changing room. Being loud and stupid, just like on the bus. living up to the kiwi experience reputation! - eek!
They then took us up to the caves and we moonwalked along in our wetsuits and big shorts. I now know what it feels like to be a man. We were trudging along like Arnold Schwarzenegger. We then had to put our bums into the tubes to see which fit best...this was a lovely kodak moment, arses in the air!
Anyone ever seen the film 'The Descent'? - this was it!!...as Anna kept reminding us! As usual, Nic was given the dud helmet. What is it with us two and getting rubbish things!!! It wasnt long before we were told to turn our lights off anyway...and most importantly, to keep our mouths shut while we gazed up at the worms, as they are basically strands of snot...but beautiful all the same of course. We tubed it through the caves, jumping off some ledges and getting absolutely soaking wet through. It was bloody freezing!!! We all tried to race each other in the rubber tubes but only came out with scratched knuckles from scraping against the walls in the dark.
Back to the changing rooms/office place for soup and a bagel...mmm! Anna's highlight! lol. This wasn't before anna nearly had to be cut out of her wetsuit, literally. They had given her a medium and laughed and said she should have had a large.
The next day we stopped off at the Angorran rabbit shearing place. Random. Dont really know what to say about this. it's a toughy. I (Nic) actually went and stood outside as I didnt know what to make of it. I dont even LIKE animals!! It was strange seeing a giant rabbit stretched and strapped onto a massive board being shaved. I didnt know whether to laugh or not. I think the thing was that I actually wanted to laugh but nobody else was, and I was scared that the little old lady that ran the place would give me a b******ing...as she did to a friend of ours. She was scary! hmm, well, anyway. The photo's should be good. HMMM. Mum, I have bought some rabbit wool for you to knit me another scarf...NOT!!!!!!!
