Hi All! At the moment I am in Sydney. I have got a few more days left here but have been so busy so thought it's best to update now!
Well, we arrived here on Friday tea time, we went straight out in the search of food as we were all starving. The person at reception directed us to a resturant called 'Encasa'. We all had pizza and it was amazing - we all over ordered and we just about had enough room to finish it all off.
On Saturday morning, we went on a guided tour of the city. It was for 3 hours long and we got to see all the sites and learn a bit of history about the city. We ended up at circular quay and we could see the bridge and the Opera House - which was just amazing. That day it was Mardi Gras and there was a huge parade through the center of the city. We heard that to get at the front you had to get there early, we got there at half 4 and just made it to the front. The parade didn't start until 7.45 so we had a long while to wait, the time went quite fast as there were lots of things going on. The parade started with lots of people on bikes going past all dressed up. Then it was time for the floats - there were over 100! It was so much fun! When I arrived at the airport in Sydney we came through duty free and there was a bottle of vodka with a casing around it in all of the colours for Mardi Gras and it had a whistle around the neck - I just had to have it and blew my whistle throughout the parade. The parade lasted about ten - it was just brill.
On Sunday we got up early and the others went to the Powerhouse museum, which was at Darling Harbour. So when they were in there I just had a look round the shops in the harbour. We then went to the Imax to get tickets for Watchman which was on at 6pm - the one here in Sydney is the largest Imax. When we got in I couldn't believe how big it was and how many people were in there. It was just huge!! That afternoon we were going to the aquarium but decided to give it a miss as the queues were huge so we decided to walk over to the casino. They had a theater there which had Buddy Holly playing, I asked about tickets whether they had any free in the week and they said they had some free for the afternoon - so 10 minutes later I found myself in the theater alone (as no one else wanted to come) with a frozen cocktail in a flashing glass in my hand. The show was absolutley brilliant!
On Monday, we went on our bridge climb which was just amazing. It took about an hour and a half to get up there and back. We were there about three hours in total - getting in our jump suits etc. Most of the climb involved steps which werent that steep but to get up we had to climb a ladder which was in the middle of the lanes of traffic on the bridge, which was a bit scary. Once we got up we could see for the miles - it was just fanastic! After, me and Anita grabbed some lunch and then headed to the aquarium, where we found Naomi. The aquarium was really good and we really enjoyed it.
Today we went on a tour around the Opera House, the tour lasted an hour and was really good. We went in to the main concert hall and there were people rehersing, the sound was fanastic. When we came out we ended up booking tickets for a performance on Thursday night - so we are all looking forward to that. This afternoon me and Anita went to Manly on the ferry. We had some lunch on the seafront and then went on the beach - it was a bit breezy but was still lovely. The best bit was that I didn't feel sick on the ferry! Tonight we all met at the Sky Tower, which was really good as you could see really far - but it was a shame as we couldn't see the Opera House and the bridge as there were some skyscrappers in the way.
Tomorrow, if the weather is good we are off to Bondi for the day, so cant wait for that. So far we are all having a great time here in Sydney. It certainly has lived up to my expectations and more!
Have managed to put some photos on at last and the ones of Christchurch too. Will update soon. Not sure where and when that will be as we are collecting the camper van on Friday morning and our first destination is the Blue Mountains, so will wait and see what happens. X
