Apologies for the delay in updating! It's Annabel's fault...
Anyways, Kanchanaburi was an interesting and quite a moving place. The war museums are very graphic and not for the faint hearted. I guess that's good in a way because it paints a true picture. We only spent one night there because we had seen everything and we wanted to get down to the islands for some beach action.
So we spent 21 hours on a bus / ferry to get from Kanchanaburi to Bangkok, Bangkok to Chumphon and the boat from Chumphon to Koh Tao. Urgh! But it was 100% worth it. As Annabel described it is 'paradise'. The beaches are beautiful and the place is soo chilled out. We spent 5 days there in total staying in the Sairee beach area. Paul went on a diving refresher course to update skills forgotten in 7 years. I dived at Mango Bay and Japanese Gardens. Mango Bay was simply amazing, the massive coral reef and huge numbers of fish. Annabel snorkeled off the dive boat too, so at least she got to see most of it.
After Koh Tao, we decided to 'hop' to Koh Samui. We love it here just as much as Koh Tao but for different reasons. Yesterday we took a day trip to Ang Thong National Park. It was like something you only see on postcards or tv. Absolutely stunning. We got to kayak around a small island which was great fun and even more fun drenching Annabel. From this island we went up a small hill to see a perfect green lagoon. In the afternoon, we landed at a larger island and Paul decided that climbing up to a 500m viewpoint was a good idea. Well, it was one of the hardest physical things I've ever done and it nearly finished Annabel off! But the view from the top was fantastic and worth losing the stone in sweat for. I'd love to upload some pictures and videos but the internet is soo frustratingly slow here they might have to wait until Oz.
Tommorow, Sunday, were off to the Andaman Coast and Krabi to start off with. Were rekon we've got another week before we start heading through Malaysia.
Maybe next time Annabel will write on here for a change!
Take care
Paul and Annabel xxx
