What did we do before GPS? There were no maps folded out over the dash, no panicked screams of "turn here!". Instead, we flipped the lid on the car and calmly drove ourselves over the Czech border at headed for Karlstejn castle.
Our travel policy is to "wing it with confidence", using the force when required. When in doubt, head for the church spire cause that is usually the centre of town.
It was a cruisy drive down the autobahn, with the exception of a few back road/ goat tracks as we got close to the castle which had us giggling. 3 hours and we are here (including the obligatory coffee & bakery stop). I love that everything is so close. A beautiful sunny day, getting quite warm by lunchtime . Just delightful .
The scenery was pretty and the castle tour and its history was interesting.
We have arrived in Prague , and finding a place to stay was not as challenging as we anticipated. We've picked up a serviced loft apartment (with bath:) ) and we are paying peanuts. Yeah! Life is good! Time to explore......
