An eight and half hour dive to Furnace Creek Ranch in Death Valley from Pismo beach. Made longer by a key road being closed due to last nights flooding. Add another 100 or so miles on to an already very long day out. Anyway, we arrived and headed straight for the swimming pool. Hottest temperature hit on the journey was 117f but now a bit cooler at 115! Looking forward to some picture opportunities tomorrow.

Visits to Badwater, Artists Palette and Zabriskie Point all before lunchtime - temperature 109f and climbing. Tried cooking an egg! The yolk cooked but not the white. The road trip continues into a different state - Nevada, as now off to Las Vegas for four nights at the Mandalay Bay.

An early morning jog followed by a surprise continental breakfast. A quick shopping outlet experience and then a lovely relaxing walk along the glorious Pismo beach and then whale and dolphin watching from the jacuzzi and swimming pool. Starting to relax now and the sun is shining on the west coast.

Picked up our SUV from the Alamo office at the Civic Centre in San Fransisco. A great start to the road trip along Highway 1. Great views along the way. We stopped for lunch at the Big Sur and then found an amazing number of Elephant Seals a few miles further on. We hit Pismo beach and Kon Tikki Inn just in time for a swim, hot tub and then BBQ dinner at Mo's diner! A walk along the pier at dusk, rounded the evening off nicely.

A leisurely walk along the piers and we came across the Louis Vitton's America 's Cup pier - amazing boats, an on shore catamaran experience and a setting fit for the rich and famous.
