We got on our boat, Silent Night, and the sky wasn't looking too happy. Sure enough just as we started to sail the heavens opened and not quite the lovely sailing experience we had been hoping of! By the time we got to the place we could snorkel we had started to dry off so decided to give it a miss for today. The skipper of the boat said we could go out in the smaller boat and feed the fish near to where the others were. And we are so glad we did because a beaut...

We had a lazy start before walking down the esplanade, and enjoying a swim at the lagoon - outside swimming pool. We then caught the overnight bus to Airlie Beach, which was surprisingly not so bad.

Today we are off to visit the Great Barrier Reef! We were a little unsure when we arrived at the first dive sight, and let all the others go before eventually being persuaded to actually get in! As it's 'stinger' season - or jelly fish to us non-Aussies - we had to put on our full body, lycra suits . . . I know what an image! Ang said we looked like ninjas lol But on the plus side nearly all of us apart from eyes and nose were covered = no stings! The first time...

Our flight was ok and we arrived to a very warm and sunny Australia! We got to our hostel and the very lovely Helen gave up some of her time to help us plan some exciting things while we make make our way down the east coast. . . so watch his space!!

So today feels like the end of the first part of our travels. We walked to the Merlion- pic- and met our friends for some lunch and some glasses of wine while overlooking the river! It was nice to catch up with Cath and Tasha and talk about plans for the next time we meet up in Sydney before new year.
