Ok, first ever entry on my first ever blog.

27th March 2011 - Flying to 'Oz' from Manchester tonight at 2100 hours UK time, nothing too interesting to write about yet as I'm not actually there yet, just the old fun past time of packing a rucksack that you're going to live out of for 12 months, I've managed to keep it down to 10-11kg (plus another little one) which seems ok, just trying to get get into the backpacker frame of mind - "pack everything you want to take, then halve it and buy anything else you need to along the way; or just do without"

True excitment is starting to set in along with some nerves which seem determined to jump aboard for the ride. Hopefully this time (UK or Oz time?) in a couple of days I'll be safe and sound in Sydney and have something interesting - hopefully GOOD interesting - to write about. First things first though, find out which way the Aussies water swirls down their plug holes in the sinks and basins!! I've done a very precise experiment and I can confirm that our water dissapears in an....ANTI clockwise direction, shocking I know. I'll be sure to let you know as soon I have found out, and if it does indeed follow the myths I think a trip to equador is on the cards to see what happens there!

Anyway good times await, I'll confirm when I'm on the other side. Let's just hope this turns to be a Legen....wait for it............DARY trip.
