Ok cold now!
Bailing from Vancouver I've made my way north east to Edmonton. What's there you ask, well pending on who you talk to nothing for the most part! But I'm here to visit Ryan! A mate who we bummed around with in Europe. So I was sure I'd see at least something with him.
Ok and when I say cold it's proper cold. 6degree maxs and below freezing at nights! What a joke. Im wearing everything I own. No snow yet though.
He gave me a tour but then boys being boys time for some sport. Ice hockey one night, Canadian football the following. So you most likely not aware but the NHL isn't on after all the players went on strike! There's just no season. So the game we saw was like the WAFL version. But nevertheless it was entertaining. They do hit hard and the game is very fast live. The football the opposite. Slow and so much colder. Coldest weather I've ever been in! Thank god for alcoholic hot chocolate hahah. Still game was good and I talked some s*** salesmen into a giving me a free shirt.
The one big tourist thing here though is the west Edmonton mall. It's huge was previously the biggest mall ever and still in the top 5. There's an amusement park inside, ice hockey rink, sea lion shows and the best part a water park! You best believe I was all over that s***. They have a great slide where you stand upright in a small chamber, then three, two, one the bottom opens. After a short fall and ride, you loop around (yes that's what your read) it spits you out into the run off! Awesome!
This past weekend also doubled as the Canadian thanksgiving and Ryan's Nans 80th. So time to eat your self stupid. Be sure I did! So much food and drink. Then I even got a mention in the speech and a family photo hahah. All in all a good night followed by a million questions about Australia and our lifestyle. It's pretty clear now though Canada is Australia on ice! No not like Ben Cousins more like in a Disney sort of way.
