Russia, the Ukraine, Turkey & Ireland!
The nearest trader joes is 4 miles away.
Let's see, it's 10:30 now. My flight leaves at 4 something. And I don't feel like trying to sightsee something between now and then. So it's a day of loafing. Yesterday I traipsed through Central Park, went to Little Italy for pasta and then to the 9/11 Memorial. My camera takes great panoramic shots. Not sure how well they'll upload here though.
Then, the mother of the woman whose flat I'm staying at in St. Petersburg emails to tell me not to freak out but her daughter is deaf. I wrote back to tell I'm okay with it but that I thought it was uncool for her to tell me last minute. She wrote back a hissy fit. Yay.

bob maybe the mom's fits made the girl go deaf....be careful!
andrewcohen The mom is in Southgate. :-)
Marji Considering u r staying in her home, just suck it up. U can make issues as u walk out the door. Rule of the road- don't give them reason 2 spit in ur food! Wait til ur out door - then give them the finger.
Ruby Wow, Andy, quite an jam-packed adventure; sounds like it took a lot of planning. What source did you use to find lodging? I'm looking forward to hearing about it. Bon voyage!
andrewcohen Actually Marji, the daughter's fine. So is her husband. The mother was just being overprotective. I wrote back to her and she apologized. Ruby, check out airbnb.com - what a great find. You can rent a room, a whole home, or share a room in places all OCR the world. I've got my own apartment booked in Ankara for a few nights for 35$ per night. Okay, so I splurged. But it comes with a guitar and a bicycle. I haven't been planning it for very long. Maybe just a couple months.
