Hello everyone! Computers in South America suck (and not in a good way) so its taken me years to upload any photos let alone find the time to actually write a blog or anything. Infact as I write this I am writing it in an email because about half the internet (including facebook) seems to be blocked by this stupid internet cafe´s connection. Ugh!
Thankfully I have been keeping note on my ipod of my daily activities so I can realy them back to you all at home.
So first off - shout out to everyone who came to see me in Newcastle was awesome to see you all! I particularly enjoyed Arcane was good to be a drunk again (not that I have not been a drunk more recently of course) and congrats to all the winning campaigners - you´ll all make awesome sabs.
Also a nice big thankyou to Marie for hooking me and Lucy up at the Rennaisance Hotel at Heathrow (particularly given the discovered cost of the room ordinarily - 229 pounds) and the buffet breakfast that morning was awesome and very much appreciated. So lets start there - Tues 17th March morning.
Terminal 5 is lush - after all the bagage nonsense we were quite expecting it to be s***, but no really nice, the check in desk is rather stupidly positioned on the 3rd floor howver which when you are half killing yourself carring your backpack seemed like a somewhat unecessary step by the architect but check in took like 5 mins you do it all on a littl computer get your boarding pass and drop off your bags with a little desk.
Security took forever but we didnt expect anything less really and on the other side we stocked up on magazines for th flight and bought myself a memory card for my camera since the website I bought mine off ages ago nevr showed until th saturday before i left when I was in Newcastle. Anyways we needn´t have bothered with all the magazins because the flight was awesome. I didnt have a seat in front of me so I had all the leg room in the world (although now that i remembr the seats I remembr that was the one annoying thing about the computers for check in wouldn´t let me and lucy do it togther so we had to like manually sit outselves together with a little seat diagram) and I watched Australia (Icried - good film) Burn After Reading (random) Slumdog Millionaire (good altho maybe a bit too hyped) and High School Musical 3 (of course!)
We were confused by the landing forms (and not for the last time by any means) but filled out the majority of it to the best we could and got past immigrations so obviously did a good enough job and god were we hit by the heat in the car park and it was like 9pm! It was hot, made worse by the backpacks obv but still. The free transfer turnd out not to be free which was a bit s*** but whatevs beat having to try understand Portuguese after a long flight and get a taxi.
After a 20 min ride and some sketchy english talking tour whilst at it we pulled up to ¨Stone of a Beach¨ - the hostel of dreams on Copacabana, Rio.
