Ok so I got a little distracted and happened to neglect my blog for a bit...ok for like a month. But I'm back now and that's what matters. So I can once agian regal all who read this with VERY periodic updates. Let's see Cambodia... after I left the capital I took a bus up to Battambang, which I'm told is the second largest city in the country, but is actually a teeny town, with dirt roads and a central produce market. My highlight there was a hour long massage done by a blind man that only cost 6 bucks...it was actually really good. I was also approached by a local man who was looking for volunteers to teach english to kids who can't afford school. After he took me around for the day to local sites I taught class to a bunch of the younger kids. It was only an hour but you would be surprised how quickely you can go throught the alphabet and names for animals and colours. And I don't care what anyone says Simon Says is a very educational game! Especially when your being stared at by a bunch of kids! Either way we ended up leaving early because the sun went down and they don't have a genorator. The class is held in the school but since it is for the kids who can't afford the normal school it is held after hours from about 5 to 6, which is why it got dark. It was a great experience and I wish I could have helped out more. From Battambang I took a river boat up to Siem Reap. The boat trip was amazing and went through floating villages and a bird sanctuary. Once in Siem Reap I did what any archeological student would do... I went crazy visiting the Angkor ruins and basically made them my playground for about 5 days until my aunt showed up. My aunt and I went from Cambodia to Bangkok, Chiang Mai and then down to Ko Samui a small island in the gulf of Thailand. Now anyone who knows my aunt also knows her high class taste, so I got horribly spoiled with upper end hotels and villas which I would definitly not have been able to afford on my own. I got to have Hot Showers!!!!! (not really common here...who needs them at plus 30?) But they were prefect since our rooms also had A/C. (again not common)But alas she has now returned to the frozen north and I have been tossed back into the reality of fan rooms and shared bathrooms. easy come easy go. So that is now where I am, and basically the maijor points of my travels. Let's see how long till I write another update....
