We caught our first Vietnamese over night sleeper train to Sapa, which was a delight compared to the buses as it was built for normal sized people. On arrival we soon digged out our hoodies for the first time as it was noticeably much cooler. We were booked in for a 2 day trek/home stay with the Sapa sisters. We arrived in Hanoi on yet another sleeper bus, found a cheap place to stay, and explored the city on foot but got so hot that we decided to go to the water park for the afternoon! Our bus ride to Ho chi Minh wasn't as straight forward as expected. What was meant to be an 8 hour bus journey turned into 2 bus rides and a 4 hour wait! The highlight was sitting on a local bus with all the Vietnamese staring and talking about us! One women even barked at Dick! We decided to travel down the coast towards Vietnam, stopping firstly at the riverside town of Kampot. We found some lovely accomodation on the river in raised bamboo huts.
