Ok ok sorry sorry its been so long but Ive just been soo busy and not always with internet access but ill start with where I left off.
So the next day in Costa Rica we went to the beach. We left from San Jose in the morning and took a bus to Punta Arenas. We had talked with a lot of people who said that Montezuma was totally worth it and gave us some tips on how to get there more easily. So from Punta Arenas we took a ferry across to Nicoya Peninsula and from there we had to take a bus to the other side of the peninsula about an hour to Montezuma. The ferry ride was really nice and was about an hour as well. It was a really pretty day and pretty scenery. Punta Arenas was gorgeous too and we were hoping that we made the right choice. Once we got off the ferry we hopped on the crowed bus to Montezuma. Once we arrived in Montezuma we saw that it was deffinitly going to be a fun few days. Oh and by the way it was May 26th, my birthday :) By the time we got there though the sun had kind of already gone down but it was still really nice out and we were starving so we went to go eat some dinner. After dinner we walked around the town a little then we went to Chicos to celebrate my decent into old age... hahaha. It was actually a really fun night. We started off just kind of like ok well this is fun whatever but then a few local boys came up to us and asked us if we wanted to play pool with them. We argeed and got our buts kicked. but jacquie was actually pretty good. I only got one ball into the hole in both games that we played hahaha. So then we decided to sit out because there were some other people wanted to play. Then I became friends with the bartender because I told him it was my birthday and everyone around started saying feliz cumpleaños. He was so friendly and his name was Jon, hahahahah. Of course I told him we had an amazingly awesome teacher named Jon. Then those local boys started talking to us again but we were like ehh like we just want to be friendly not slutty so we kind of backed off so they wouldnt think we were regular stupid gringas. Then a few girls from Atlanta came in and we got to talking to them and they were super nice so we sat for a while with them just chatting and having a good time. Then they left so we saw that our local friends were playing cards so I decided to teach them to play war because they had never heard of it and they happened to really like it. Then all of a sudden this kid comes over and he says he was 18 but we were like kid you´re like 12 so we nick named him the little s*** ahhaha. After a few card games we decided it was time to go back to the hostel. I got a Costa Rican Pura Vida t shirt from all that somewhere in there too haha. We woke up in the morning and went straight to the beach after breakfast. It was really nice and the beach was beautiful. After laying out for a fewhours and swimming we got some lunch and just hung around the town. Later we hung around the hostel which was actually right on the beach and they had some benches and hammocks to hang out on. We met this 30 year old surfer dude who talked about life haha. Then we got some dinner it was just a nice relaxing two days. The next morning we woke up at 430 to take showers before the 530 bus to Liberia. Being up that early gave us the opportunity to see the amaziiiiinnngggg sunrise!!!!! We waited for the bus and it finally game at like 6 something and well actually that bus took us back to the ferry then we took the ferry back to punta arenas where there was this really ugly duck looking baby on the boat with us omg. We got to Puntas at about 9:00 and we were starvinnnnnnnnnnnnggggso we walked about 1km with our big heavy bags to find a resturant but nothing opened until 11 but then we came across this one place where the guy was actually smart and was like well we dont serve breakfast and we are not open but I can whip you up some eggs. So we had a nice breakfast of orange juice, scrammbled eggs with ham, and beans and white rice. And all that only cost us like 3 dollars together (only cheap thing in Costa Rica). They also gave us some water which was nice cuz we looked like we were dying carrying those bags in the heat. So after that we found the bus to Liberia which we took to get towards the border. From there we got to the Nicaraguan border which was really annoying to cross and we met this old senile guy from Louisiana who was like I was in the military and ive been living in central america for 35 years or something like that omg he was crazy. We get across the border finally and come to find out we just missed the last bus to Granada so a taxi driver comes up to us and says he can drive us the two hours for 40 dollars. After much back and forth saying no no there is a bus there is a bus and them saying no there is no bus we decided to take the taxi as at this point it was true there was no bus. But I wasnt paying 40 bucks so I was able to talk the guy down to 32 dollars. On the way we started chatting with him about Nicaragua. It was really interesting driving through the first hour or so. It looked as if we were in Tennessee or something. It was also really interesting because they had a lot of those solar energy wind tower thingys. After about an hour and a half he asked us if we wanted to listen to some music and we said sure and he said is cristian ok we were like umm yea haha. So he put on this really crazy cristian music ahaha then about 15 minutes later he says to us "no tengan miedo, no tengan miedo, pero tengo que urinar" translation dont be afraid, I have to go pee. We were like omgggg whattttttt. It was kinda creepy because it was dark, there were like two figures across the street, and we were on a random road. So I grabbed my purple knife I stole from purple ladies house and the lighter I picked up in Ecuador to be able to like all the gas stoves JUST IN CASE! hahah. So we peak out the back of the car and we couldnt figure out if he was actually peeing. He looked like he was just standing there. So then he starts coming back to car and im ready with my dull butter knife ahaha and gets back in and just apologizes and says howwww embarrsing but I just cant hold it in at my age cuz it hurts too much. We were like omg hahahaha. Jacquie goes... Mejor? hjahahah like Feel better? ahahah. Then we arrive in Granada at about 8 p.m He took us to this hostel he knew about called the Bearded Monkey and it happened to be one that we had looked into so it was perfect. We went in looking for rooms but they were all booked but they had some hammocks available so we were just like whatever we´lll sleep in a hammock instead of going out and looking for another hostel. I went to go try out one of the hammocks and it was too weird so I was like great this is gunna be comfy ahahah. So after we got something to eat we just hung out. We noticed a table with like booths made of wood with cushions on top. We though that that might be a little more comfy so we slept on those instead and it was actually more comfy than any bed we´d had slept in so far hahaha. The next day we went around Granada and walked about the tower in a church then took a litttle horse and buggy tour through the city. Then we stopped for some lunch and after talking about our plans and how we were gunna get to el salv we said why dont we just leave now. So we walked out after lunch and made a quick pit stop to the pirated cd place and picked up a few nicaraguan cds. Then we grabbed our stuff and hopped on a bus to Managua to get a bus to the border. We had to go from there to Chinandega. Once we got to Chinandega we found out we would have to spend the night to get the bus to the Hondurian border in the morning. So this young guy in one of those peddle bike things brought us to a hotel that was cheaper than a lot of the hostels we have stayed in ahah. It was a cute little town. Like one of those ones where everyone knows eachother and are really friendly and basically rely on eachothers business to get by. We wanted dinner but nothing was really open exept this one dive bar which was full of a bunch of young drunk Nicaraguan boys. Well they had no food but we thought maybe just some water will do to get us through the night but all they had was beer and then I saw they had one type of juice. It was actually this really yummy mix of orange, pinapple, and I think mango juice and it was delisssssh. So that filled us for the night and we woke up in the morning and grabbed the bus to the border. After crossing into Honduras it was going to be a few hours till we got to the Salvadorean border. The Honduran border was interesting. It was no where near where we got dropped off but we got a ride there from some guy on his bike thing. We even had to cross a bridge. Once on the bus we realized we hadnt ate in a long time but luckly the bus instead of going through the highway just went through a bunch of small towns and tiny streets so we were able to reach out the window and grab something from the street vendors. We started off with a bag of doritoes, then the ice cream guy came on the bus, along with the coke guy, then we got a tamal. haha. The ice cream was amazing. Some of the women selling soda were so obnoxious. They would all get on the bus at the same time and say GASEOSESSSS...omg its gaseosas!!!! hahaha but it was funny then some kid got on and was like BANANOSSSS!!! Hhaha. oh boy. Then we finally arrived at the El Salvadorean border and got off the bus and one police guy asked to look at our passport then was like ok but WE NEVER WENT THROUGH IMMIGRATION!!!!!! So basically we are ilegals in El Salv right now.. but apparntly they dont do that if you cross on land. So hopefully thats true cuz we dont want any problems at the guatemalan border lol. So we took the bus to San Miguel so that we could catch the bus to San Salvador. Turns out we missed the last bus AGAIN!!! this time only by 20 minutes. So trying to figure out how to get in touch with Jose to tell him we wouldnt make it that night while asking where we could find a phone a young girl came up and offered us her cell phone so we called him and he told us he would come pick us up there. It took him almost three hours to get there though so we hung out in the bus terminal for a while. When he finally got there it was pretty dark and he had said the roads where kind of dangerous to drive on at night so it would be best of we spent the night. So we found a cheap hotel and slept there. It came out to be only 6 dollars each which was good. That night we went out for PUPUSAS!!!! it was sooo exciting! My first REAL El Salvadorean pupusas!!!! SO YUMMMY!!! Of course we had de queso. :) They were sooo much better than the ones from the place in Lynn but I totally give them props for actually providing a pupusería haha. The next day after breakfast we went to San Salvador and found a hostel and settled in then we went to Joses house for some lunch. His family is realllllly nice and they are so generous they just gave us whatever we wanted. His mom makes really good Horchata too! Then we went out and climbed La Puerta del Diablo which looked out into San Salvador. Then we went to a pupusería and ate pupusas again then we went to this little mirador thing and looked out to a pretty view of the city. It was great. The next day we went to the beach, Playa El Tunco. It was soooo nice. El Salvador is know for its surfing so there were a ton of surfers. The beach was black sand and the waves were gigantic. The hotel we stayed at had a nice pool too so when we got sick of the sand we went swimming in the pool. hahah there was this giant lizard that kept coming over the wall and shaking his head hahah like he was saying yes... so we started asking him questions... like so like to eat poop hahaha then he would shake his head hahaha. Then we saw a sign onthe wall that said in english, Please no eating or dinkring in the pool. So of course we got a kick out of that saying well I guess we can drink in the pool but I am gunna have to take out my dink ring!!! HHAHAHA OH BOY. It was such a beautiful few days minus the surfer dudes butts hanging out of their bathing suits and their ugly long hair haha. In the afternoon we went out for some ice cream and it was yummy!! The next day we left in the afternoon and just went back to our hostel. That day a breakfast there was this dog that looked like he was going to die, he was soooo skinny, I felt so bad so I gave him my bread. The next day we went to see some archaeological ruins!!!! We went to Las Ruinas San Andrés and Joya de Cerén!! Both really cool! In San Andrés I even was able to find pottery!!! Sonia would be so proud :) Then we went grocery shopping so we wouldnt have to keep spening money on food. Today we were going to go to a volcano but on the way the car started acting up so we drove back to Joses so it could rest a while. Joses mom and grandma made us some lunch again it was soo nice of them. Then we decided to take the bus to the anthropolgy museum. On the bus back we almost flew off the bus because the bus had gone over a bump and we went flying out of our seats and of course we were sitting next to the door. There was a preggo lady next to us who I swear to god gave burth to that baby after we had gottten off cuz she looked like she was gunna pop any day now but then after that bump her face just looked like she was going into labor or something. After that we returned to the house and again we were given food. Jose´s mom had made pupusas which were really yummy of course!! Then we hung out for a little bit there and now we are just back in the hostel.HAHAHA let me tell you a little something about this hostel..... the people staying here are sooooo weird. We´ve got this one guy who keeps talking crap about americans and claiming hes from holland but omg he acts more "american" than anyone I know. Everything that comes out of his mouth is so stereotypical and ignorant and hypocritical its rediculous. But it´s not just Americans... he said one day that every single 12 year old in Guatemala has kids... hahahah LIKE WHATT????? Then along with him and most of the people here he just sits in the hostel all day and doesnt leave to go out and see the sights or meet the people. They all legit sit in front of the tv all day. This one kid with a funny looking blond mustach from sweden talks about how he wants to be a guerilla and how hes a revolutionast...so im like well then your in the perfect country... why dont you leave the hostel and go out and meet some people and talk about the war Im sure you could get some good insight. I dunno its so strange. A bunch of them went out last night and someone came back so drunk and puked all night in the bathroom right next to my room. SO GROSSSSS I wanted to get up and shoot them!! Like dont drink that much seriously what the heck. Well I think thats all for now. Tomorrow we are doing laundry haha
bye bye
