ARGGHHH!!!! IM IN LOVE WITH JAPAN!
We landed at aprrox 7 30 (i think) and we got to john apartment at just after 11 :D
As soon as we got off the plane, it was amazing!
I had to have my fingerprints taken because i was an 'immigrant' (LOL!), and then we went through these random channels through the airport and all these flat escalators and got our tickets for the train. Boarded the 9 15 train and yeah, when i saw my first bit of actual japan, IT WAS MENTAL! It is exactly how i imagined it! there are rice paddys everywhere and every bit of land is used as allotments or something. People in weird hats doing gardening and SUZUKI cars and choadish vans everywhere!
I felt a little sick on the train, bt i think thats because i didnt eat much food on the plane, although it was quite nice (I was impressed!) :)
we got off at Ibisu after swapping trains at Shiragawa and yeah, Tokyo is just how you would imagine, bustling, with streets peeling off everywhere with random sushi bars in ever corner and people are so friendly!
I had 3 hours sleep when we got here (after we had nipped out and bought some rice balls stuffed with tuna for dinner) its so quirky, and i think im in love with tokyo AND all the little villages we saw on the train, they are straight out of 'only yesterday' and i felt like i was on the train journey from spirited away when she is with no face (you get me Fin?)
So, anyhow, its about half 5 here now, and ive not met john yet, we are about to go out and explore and go out to eat for dindins. Im really excited!!
The weather (mum you would HATE it!!!) its sooo humid, and its only 24 ish degrees today!! But i quite like it, and i was too cold in our room when we had our sleep so that is good because i will be able to get loadsa sleep. The futons are comfy as well :) Although Amanda doesn't seem to think so! :P
The fashion here is so cool, i cannot wait to get in there and root out some bargains! :D you know i will! :)
OMG THE SUICA CARDPENGUIN IS SO CUTE!! (kawaii) haha, see, ive been learning my japanese ;) ;) ;)
Not seen any geishsas or harajuku girls yet... but i will!
We are off to Nikko early sunday morn to see the shrine of the first Shogun and his grandson.. and just check the general area out :) shrines and stuff. But, we were going to stay in a hotel, but they're all fully booked, so we are leaving early sunday morning.
Oh and john lives in quite a modern appartment, at least it feel quqite modern, but its probably just normal for japan. The TV is soo weird, its all really in your face gameshows or live music or advertisements for games (luke would like it)
OHH YEAAAHH, and we are staying near the HUMAX place, and there is a huge gaming building just down the road, which luke would also like.
Having so much fun :)
