Sorry I've been very lazy and just uploaded photos and video so I am way behind with this. Will give a brief review of everthing we've done since the last blog.
Franz Josef + Fox Glaciers: Saw both. Planned to walk on Fox but the 750 stairs defeated me so just Michael went. He had a gerat time but sadly no pics on here as he used his big camera we don't have software for.
Queenstown: We both went jet boating on the shotover river and enjoyed it. As you've probably seen from the videos micael did a bungy jump and cayon swing. i braved the platforms to film him.
Doubtful + Milford Sounds (technically fijords) We cruised overnight on Doubtful and it was a fantastic trip, only downside being I fell in while trying to kayak. Milford was also beautiful as you can see from the photos. it rained both trips but that just ment there were lots of waterfalls. We saw dolphins and fijordland crested penguins.
Stewart Island: Crossing the Foveaux Strait is not for the weak of stomach but Stewart Island is well worth a visit. We did a little tour of the island (only 27km of road, 85% national park) then went over to walk on the bird sanctuary of Ulva Island, saw loads of native birds (sadly no kiwi).
We drove along the coast through the catlins to Dunedin where we spent the night before haeding up the coast to Oamaru.
Oamaru: We walked throught the botanical gardens then round the historical district. In the evening we took the penguin tour and saw the yellow eyed and little blue penguins.
From Oamaru we followed the Waitaki River up to Lake Pukaki.
Glentanner (Mt Cook): We took a 45 min helicopter flight round Mt Cook, going over the Tasman, Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers. It was fantastic. video footage to follow.
We took a day trip on the tranzalpine from Christchurch, went to the Antarctic centre and had a behind the scenes experince with the litttle blue penguins (see the movie)- one stood on my foot.
Akaroa: We went on a hector dolphin watching trip and bumped into Jeronimo and his family who were going swimming with them (see movie). was an absolutely glorious day.
Hamner Springs: We wnet on a 2 hour off road quad bike ride. michael loved it, i was s*** scared to start with but was really enjoying it by the end. no pic as both hands were on the bike at all times.
Kaikoura: Got up very early and went on a whale watching trip, saw two sperm whale( see movie).
That brings us up to date!
