Laguna Beach, California
hi
i havent reallly had much time to be able to update this so ill just do a quick summary of what i have been upto.
the first week i was on a tour travelling from San francsico to seattle, the first day was a little bit boring as san francisco was really cold and misty we didnt stay long so we travelled alot. After we left the golden gate park however the sun came out and did so for the rest of the week. That night we stayed just off highway 1 in a place called medinocino was very remote and the beach was pretty, we had a campfire and made smores which was fun.
Day 2 we travelled to the redwood national park and did a couple of walks around the trees were huge, the pictures cant really grasp the full size! didnt do alot in the evening as i was tired from walking and still getting used to the time zone!
Day 3 we went to crater lake national park, i think this was my favourite place, it was so beautiful and hot. We hiked down to the bottom and sat and swam in the lake which was pretty cold. The hike up was pretty hard going! That night we stayed in the national park and had to learn how to defend ourselves from bears as there was a risk one might come into the campsite...very wierd!!
Day 4 we travelled up to Silver Falls state park, on the way up we saw farmers burning grass, it just looks like a huge tornado! At the park we did another hike round the 10 waterfalls, it was a really nice walk however one of the waterfalls did not have any water!
Day 5 we went to Mount St Helens via Portland....not my favourite place. It was fulll of homeless people and ferrrel kids. Went to the chinese gardens there and this insanely big book store that you had to have a map to navigate yourself around. the drive up to mount St helens was very windey as we were just travelling round different mountians. Nearly at the volcano you can still see dead trees from its last big eruption...abit eerie. the campsite we stayed in that night was very odd it was in some old fashioned village that was having its anual flea market and it seemed to takeover everything! there were also elk just roaming through the site!!
Day 6 was one of my favourite days we went to Mount Rainier, we hiked for about 3 hours here, the uphill to get to the glacier vista was tough but so worth it the views were amazing!! From here we went to seattle. We didnt get there till about half 4 so most of the attractions were shutting so we went and enjoyed thier happy hour and went out for our last meal together at a really nice burger place called red robin!
Day 7 8 and 9 everyone left and i was on my own for 3 days and managed to just get a cold, i did some sightseeing round seattle like pike place market and the seattle centre and the waterfront. I also went to bumbershoot festival which was fun although very big and i got lost a few times. I saw Mstrkrft, Jason Mraz& Black Eyed Peas didnt feel well enough to watch anyone else. Seattle was a nice city but it definaly holds up to its name of being the rainy city as it rained on and off all weekend. Also i hate the buses there, they were so hard to work out!!
Day 10 i flew from seattle to San Francisco to meet ben and his family in the rv. We found our RV park and then got the BART into San Francisco. It was so cold!! we got the cable car to fishermans wharf and jumped on a open top bus tour. as we got to the golden gate bridge and drove over it felt like we were in a hurricane it was so windy! We saw most of the sights and then went to get some food and warm up!
Day 11 we drove 5 hours to Yosemite National park, thankfully it was nice and warm here. we didnt get here till late so we just walked around for abit booked a tour for the next day and watched the sunset on half dome. when we got to our campsite there was a sign saying beware of bears there has been 331 incidents this year!! so we were all a little weary. We cooked tea then me and jess cooked marshmallows over the fire.
Day 12 we were meant to get up for a 10 o clock tour but somehow managed to miss it?? so we rented some bikes and biked round the valley which was really nice. Cutting it fine we got our bikes back and got on the tour...however we lost mary coming back so jess had to wait and get on the next one with her. The tour was of the valley floor and was narrated by a ranger, it was really interesting and saw some great views! On one of the mountians El capitan ( the largest granite face in the world) you could see rock climbers! Once we were all together we went and had drinks and food and the Awahnee lodge. We decided to travel through the night back to Laguna Beach so tried to see the sequoias on our way out. But when we got there the last bus had gone and our RV was too long to get up the roads so 2 miles from them we had to give up :( we then had a 9 hour journey back to laguna! at 3 am we finally made it back!!
Day 13 we just chilled on the beach, it was really nice weather and we went to palce called crescent bay. but had abit of a disaster and my camera ended up in the sea! after crying for ages we took it to a shop who managed to recover the pictures but not the camera :( so there may not be many photos from now on. In the evening me ben dan and scott went to an amusement park called boomers where u pay $20 and get unlimiter laser quest, go carts, mini golf, rides etc it was fun. We then had a candlelit dinner outside for mary and jess's last night.
Today i go to San Diego with the boys, we are watching an american football match tonight then over the next few days will go to the beach, seaworld and the zoo. On Wednesday we go to Las Vegas for my final part of my trip!
Not sure when ill next get on here!
Miss you all
