Day 16!
I started off the day by going to the Methodist church in Grantham, or at least, I was trying to. At first, the cab driver dropped Taylor and I off at the Catholic church, and I had to run him down in order to get to the right place. When we finally did get to the correct church, we were already known as the girls chasing their cab down the street by some of the congregation that just happened to be driving by. Regardless, they welcomed us with open arms. They did not have a preacher that day but instead shared how God was working in their lives. They also had puppets which reminded me of my home church.
Afterwards, we went back to Harlaxton, changed, and hopped on a coach to Lincoln. I was hoping for a fairly relaxing day and was pleasantly surprised. The entire town was beautiful and to my joy hosting a 1940s festival. All around us, people were dressed up like the 40s. There was even swing dancing going on in the square. We walked through several antique stores and looked at several craft booths. We saw the Lincoln Cathedral and heard its bells ring. We also saw and walked into the courtyard of Lincoln Castle.
It was here that I had my first British afternoon tea. It was in a small tea and ice cream shop on the hillside. We walked down to the cellar which was cramed with a few cute tables. The arched ceiling had British flags draped across it. A lady came down and took our order. I ordered a pot of tea to split with Katie and a piece of homemade chocolate cake. The cake was very good! The tea still wasn't my favorite, but I had two cups and was very thankful to be out of the cold wind that afternoon. Overall, a very British day!
