Slovenia - my new favourite country! Travelling with Elliot and Chooka who we met in London and Taylor (whos canadian) who they met in Rome.
This place is untouched paradise:
Cheap: €15 Per person per night gets us a 6 bedroom dorm with our own kitchen, table/chairs and bathroom all quite new and 15 minute walk from the city centre.
Beautiful: it's all very clean and so beautiful, I can't wait to put the photos up! There is the main square on the river and there are pubs and restaurants all up the strip of the river. Fountains and people riding their bikes, little dogs and buskers playing music, its fantastic!
The people: everyone here speaks excellent English and want to help you out in any way they can. You can easily walk up to a random person and they will be happy to talk to you, it's a nice change from Italy where people are so rude and go out of their way not to talk to you. Even when you try and speak a little Italian!

So, with only 2 million people they need to know English and they have to be friendly because they rely on tourism, unlike Italy who have so many things that bring the tourists in so they don't need to be friendly or helpful or nice people.
Backtracking a little bit; last week (still in Milan) I met some girls! Very exciting. Girls are hard to meet, they stay in packs and when other girls try to be friendly, basically they are not friendly back. These two girls were Australian and from Woy Woy, and they were great! Unfortunately they were only staying for two nights, but in those two nights, one day, I got the girl company I needed. We went out dancing, we went op shopping (with not a lot of luck) and we went talking. It was just what I needed! And while I went shopping Michael went to San Siro with an English guy and did a tour there.
We stayed too long in Milan and the earliest night we had was 1am and the latest night was 6am. There was also an American guy who was on all kinds of drugs and played the digeridoo, quite well.
Elliot got there on the Saturday and on Monday we decided to go back to Venice (Elliot hadn't been there and we were going to meet Chooka and Taylor there) and head up to Ljubljana. We stopped at a random town called Vicenza (between Verona and Venice) and ended up staying for two nights because we liked it so much! We tried sussing out vineyards as it's wine country and ended up hopping on a bus to Costozza walking around lost until we found someone who spoke little English and she told us directions to get to a little bar. Ended up staying there until 6:30pm (mostly because we missed the bus back so we had to wait around for another two hours).
Went to Venice and stayed there for a night, found a campsite for €10 a night. I stood still for 2 minutes and I got 7 mosquito bites.
We met a German guy and a French Canadian guy in Vicenza who met each other in their travels who met two German girls who met an American/vegetarian/feminist in Venice who we caught up with in St Marcos Square and we all went out drinking. One of the greatest things about traveling? The characters you meet.
On Thursday we went to the train station bought ourselves (back to being the five of us) tickets to Trieste, went on the hunt for wi fi so we could book our accommodation and then from there bus tickets to Ljubljana. We booked for two nights but we love this place so much we booked for another!
And now here we are. We'll head off to Salzburg tomorrow, although I don't want to leave this place but Elliot and Chooka have to be in Munich on the 27th and we have to be there on the 29th for Oktoberfest.
Ciao!
