Hello again!! The blogsters return! Apologies for delay in blogs; we have been chilling in an eco retreat, soaking up the hippy lifestyle!
12/11/2012:
Long day on the baz bus from Durban to East London, got picked up at 6.45am and didn't arrive in East London until about 7pm. Luckily for us the weather was pretty cloudy and a bit wet; we seem lucky in that the weather is bad on the days when we have nothing planned except sitting on buses!! And is glorious when we are doing stuff :) We passed through lots of interesting and attractive scenery and areas, although you would of been cross dad as I slept through some of it!! We passed through the Trankei area, which is a rural and rather wild area where they are still living the very basic life. The driver told us he had shot hi-jackers there, which was comforting! The hostel, Sugarshack, in East London was pretty basic but right on the beach!! We had a shed as our room- it was like sleeping in a beach hut cos you could clearly hear the sea all night. We were the only guests there really, everyone else there seemed to be living there. Slept well!

Got picked up about 11.30 by a guy in his car to go to Hogsback. Turns out the guy lived in Ipswich for a year and a half- first person who has heard of Ipswich! He knew a lot of St Joes pupils and worked at several of the bars and clubs in town. Journey took about 1.5 hours and we arrived at Away with the Fairies! Probably our favourite hostel. Again the weather wasn't great, but it did stop raining not long after we arrived. We were sleeping in another shed, but this time in the woods! There was loads of dogs, parrots, monkeys and free roaming cows! Plus lots of the hippy types; sat around dreadlocking their hair! We sat by a big open log fire and had a game of scrabble; it was a sad day!!!!!!!!!! I lost! HAHAHAHA (by Gareth). 24-1 :( When the weather started to get better we went for a mooch to the bath tub on the end of a cliff!! And started walking down into the woods, but it was a bit muddy and we didn't really know where we was going so we headed back and chilled in the hostel. Had hotdogs and vege hotdogs for tea.
14/11/2012- Wednesday
Gareth woke up with an upset stomach and struggled to go far from the loo for a couple of days (I think it was in sympathy with you Sophie! Or I sai it was karma for beating me at scrabble! He reckons it was the sausages!). We got a map and set off on the 3 waterfall hike! It was a glorious, sunny day again today! We had to go all through the woods to find the waterfall; we didn't see a single person all day! The waterfalls were all beautiful. We had to do the 'rock scramble' to climb up to a couple of them and get better views! It was amazing, you could literally stand in the water beneath the waterfall! We was hiking for 5 hours and pretty knackered when we got back. So I persuaded Gareth to have his first massage in the massage hut; to say he was apprehensive is an understatement; he was like a girl on a first date, asking what to wear and if he should speak and if it would hurt. ( oh alex does exaggerate- Gareths comment). Hahaha! I sat outside listening out for a scream, but he come out with a big smile on his face so I think he is converted. I then had my full body massage too, which was well deserved after all the hiking and was very relaxing!!! A lovely treat. We then had fresh pizzas for tea and had the best nights sleep.
15/11/2012- Thursday
Got shuttle back to East London about 10.30am. Spent the day on East London's sunny and sandy but very windy beach. Lots of surfer dudes catching the waves, while Gareth decided to bury me in the sand. We went back to the hostel we used the other night and had showers and sat chilling there for a bit, then went to a restruarant next door and had the most delicious meal yet on a balcony overlooking the beach!! Baz bus was meant to get us at 5.45pm, but didn't show up until 8.10pm!! It was a busy bus too! Had a 4 hour trip to Port Elizabeth..........
(Gareth says: you may notice no more mention of scrabble, Alex now refuses to play and the game is up for sale! Hahaha)

DAD DAD; yes I would have had something to say at you falling asleep with all that wonderful; scenery outside. But after all the exciting jaunts you have undertaken since you jetted off from these shores you must be understandably tired. Mum Mum was getting a tad edgy about three days with no reports - and so was Sophie Sophie!! All good here with plenty of dog walks although park closed for two days after body found near cricket pavilion. Someone has been charged with murder I believe. We voted in the police chief elections yesterday, and Ipswich Town with Mick McCarthy as manager now have won two of their last three games! Well done Gareth on the scrabble front and keep going to you eventually equalise, but bad luck on the 'runs' front. I'm sure that would happen to me. Your hostels all sound unique and memorable. Thinking of you. Enjoy xx
Auntie Vic Oh my oh my Gareth i have been in your position and once you get that win its like nothing else on earth is it!! let me guess alex response "i had all vowels all game" "you had all the good letters" Comiserations alex! I truely mean that. Blimey youve packed loads in i quite fancy a shed on the beach or in the woods especially seeing wild parrots and monkeys. Small world a bloke who used to live in ipswich ehhh. Glad trots have gone gareth and that you enjoyed your massage. The waterfalls sound amazing, it all does im thinking your gonna need a holiday on your return! All good here. Love ya lots xxxxxxxxxxxx
