Before visiting Prague, this place already has a special meaning to me due to the fact that I was so close to visiting there on my European tour back in 2008.
Upon arrival to the Prague Ruzyne Airport, the only form of transportation to and from the airport besides driving is the 109 bus. It is the cheapest and most convinent form of transportation. It costs about 2CK or 0.75$ USD if I remember correctly, ticket machines are right outside of the airport where you wait for the bus. The bus connects you to a main metro station that connects to most site seeing places. My hotel is on the Charles Bridge so I got off the metro at the station called Staromestskaon Linea A.
The weather in Prague was so perfect in May, sunny, warm and bliss. Walking around Prague reminds me a lot of Rome. It might be because of the historical buildings and arts all over Prague. Walking on old pebble stone streets of Prague, one can find something historical and interesting in different street corners. I love the fact that even if you get lost in Prague, you will bump into something amazing from thousands of years ago. Same reason why I love Rome.
The Charles Bridge connects to two very vivid districts of town where everywhere is open garden restaurants, shops and pubs. On the opposite side of the bridge, within walking distance is the Tyn cathedral, the clock and an open piazza in the center, typical european settting. People gather together at the piazza for a talk and drink or gelato. Doesn't it sound like Rome? I kept getting lost in Prague thinking its Rome. The other side of the Charles Bridge can lead to a way up to the Prague Castle. Direction signs were all over prague showing landmarks and the way to get there. I visited the Charles Bridge in the afternoon, evening and early morning. You will encounter different type of crowds during different times.
