Hi, everyone. Thanks for the warm messages for Rob and me. Im so sorry that I havent been in touch sooner. Im in the States staying at Rob's mother's house right now. I just wanted to tell you, Rob's ashes were delivered here from Africa on Aug 26th. Since he left Japan, Ive been waiting so long to meet him, and I have finally had a chance to be with him again. It is so sad but also gives me so much happiness that he is next to me. I want you all to know you all are so special to Rob and me. Im going to upload Rob's pix of Africa as soon as possible, and you will all be able to see what Rob saw in Africa. He took so many beautiful and amazing pix! I will send each of you a mail when the time is right.
With love, Meg

Rob was always so helpful to me about Japan and I wanted to visit him. Here is one of his recent emails that I kept.
hey colin,
for us americans it`s a little harder to find a job after moving to japan than
it is for other english speakers. this is because america doesn`t give working
holiday visas & therefore we americans can`t recieve them. so i`ll tell you how
i did it but i`ve gotta warn you it wasn`t particularly easy.
because i didn`t have a working visa i was required to buy a roundtrip ticket
here even though i had no intention of using the return flight. i visited
friends in tokyo before bussing, hitching, & camping my way up to hokkaido. i
knew 1 person in sapporo & stayed at their place a little but soon i was on my
own. i camped 1 night in a city park before i got lucky & met a kind kiwi who
let me crash @ his pad as i continued to look for a job. after about a month &
a half i found 1 and then had to fly to korea to get my visa. feb. & march are
probably the best times to look for a job as the japanese school year ends @ the
end of march and a lot of the old teachers leave. at least in hokkaido,
december is a rather difficult time to find work because so many snowboarders
are getting to town for the winter season but this may not be true down south.
good luck. i know that if you really want to live here (like i did) you will
find a way to make it work. just be tough & don`t give up. after you get the
visa so many possibilities open up that you`ll be glad you did it. stay in
touch & let me know how you get on.
eplevel everything,
rob
ps. a college diploma is a requirement for recieving a working visa in japan.
GRADUATE!! congratulations in advance.
Also one time I asked him about if I could do film in Japan. He said, "Where there is a will, there is a way".

Meg - I just emailed you. So sad to hear the terrible news. I'm sure you'll check your emails. Take care of yourself.
My sympathies also go out to Rob's family and close friends. I only met him a few times, but he was always full of energy and enthusiasm. Take heart that he will be remembered by so many.

Firstly to Megumi, you are going to feel Robs passing more than anyone- I had hope you have plenty of people to support you at this time. There nothing I can really say that will make you feel better at this time. All I can say is that Uj and my thoughts are with you.
Rob- I enjoyed working with you, partying with you, snowboarding with you and even just our random conversations where we could debate seemingless meanlingless topics for hours on end.
Rob had a positive affect on the lives of many across the globe, those years he was with us he chose to live them to the fullest and he will never really be gone because he has left behind a little bit of himself behind in each of us.
While we mourn a life lost, we can celebrate a life truly lived.

Rob,
Already the world and your friends mourn your loss, but like Chris says; we feel you all around. You touched us, livened us up and gave us strands of your inexhaustible energy to face the world.
Thank you and I miss you.
Greg
We'll miss you, Rob.

Hey Rob,
It was great seeing you once again at the little Atlanta stop. This site is a cool way to keep in touch, I love the photos. Have a great time in Africa. I know will. I am going to get back to you with the information for a very cool underground eco-village you should visit if you are anywhere nearby. Please update your email list for my current email address. The Aol address will go bye-bye after tonight.
Happy Trails,
Brandi
