Sydney-
Well ready for some sun and it seems we brought the rain we've us to oz, luckily it only lasted one day though and we've been luckily enough to have our own personal sydney tour guides, as we've met up with some friends we met in Fiji who now live here. Sydney is lovely, so many places to go, soo many beaches but still a massive city.
We only had 5days in sydney before we headed off to Melbourne and with our tour guides in hand :-) we managed to see, Darling Harbour (and at night time so it was all lite up) went to Sydney Aquarium, saw the Opera House and went on a boat to manly beach which was also really cool.
We also did a walk from Coogee Beach to Bondi Beach which takes two hours and has loads of perfect beaches along the way.
And of course we done a little bit of shopping in between, was reasonably good though as it was at 'paddy's market' which is massive!
We also decided that as 'police' were in concert whilst we were there we had to go!!! and when choosing our tickets, it was a bit extra to have access to the private bar with good seats, so obliviously us being us, booked those ones! When we picked up the tickets from the office the lady even said wow what good seats, so after hearing that and reading about them, I really got it in my head that we were going to see some famous people as we were in some vip area, and got extra excited when kate told me jordon and peter were in australia at the time.... actually turned out though that our seats were really good and close to the stage, except the special part just meant we could get drinks at the bar behind us, rather than the people on the grass that couldn't! so no sightings of any famous people :-( but 'police' more than made up for it, it was excellent!! and Fergie was supporting him and she was actually really good live and done loads of covers.
So no famous on that night but.... walking around the supermarket the night before, a man came up to Kendra (who seems to get a bit star struck like me :-) and asked her if she knew the band 'Thirsty Merc' as the lead singer was in the shop with his girlfriend!! She hadn't actually heard of him, but her being her and me being me, she ran round the shop looking for me and then we spent the next 15mins following him around the aisles :-) we couldn't actually ask him for a photo though because we wasn't sure who he was or if it was a joke. Anyway turns out it wasn't, walking down the road after, whose picture do we happen to see on the front of a newspaper ad... yep the man from the supermarket!! and the next day we even saw him on a tv ad!!! but dame no picture on our camera!!
Melbourne-
So next we was off to Melbourne for 4days to meet up with a friend we met in Fiji and also Mary (from back home-whoo) We were staying at a place called St. Kilda which is just outside of the city, by the beach and loads of cool little cafes and bars nearby. Our hostel was also really nice, its actually called a hotel but with hostel rates so that was even better, even had air con, a fridge, tv, dvd player and a walk in shower in our room.... but we are going back to dorm rooms soon we promise :-)
Our first day out in Melbourne was the day of the woman's tennis final, so we had a walk along the river to the stadium and had a bit of a result, some man from a radio show gave us two ground tickets for free.. and there was no catch!! couldn't actually get into the court of the final's game but got access to other courts and had a beer whilst seating in the sorging heat, on the grass watching it on the screen. Im not even really into tennis but being there seems to make things really cool.
That day, Saturday, was Australia Day as well, so that made it even better.
We also went to the belgian beer garden whilst there, which was really cool, just has loads of people chilling out, with live bands on, a bbq and was lovely and hot.
We finally met up with Mary (was so cool and strange to see someone from home) got to hear all her amazing stories about Asia as well, so looking forward to checking out her suggestions when we go there.
Then the best part of Melbourne (apart from meeting up with Mary) was Neighbours Night- Yep we got to meet Dr Karl Kennedy :-) was such a funny night, we met the characters Stu (the policeman) Max (was married to Steph) DR KARL!! and the new lady who goes out with paul robinson. They come around and have a catch with you all as well, oh and we done a quiz which we were convinced we were going to win (maybe we would of if it had been about neighbours but not general knowledge :-) We also got to see Karl Kennedy's very own band - amazing :-)
Also met a few randoms there as well tho, mullet man has been to neighbours night over 500 times!! and some drunk man had face paints with him for some reason, which in my drunken state thought it would be amusing to have my face painted, well it was amusing until i realsied i was the only one who had had it done!! Craig also somehow appeared with a kilt on that had come from the same strange man :-)
We're now back in Sydney and fly to Cairns tomorrow to start heading down the east coast, which we're really looking forward too!! so we'll keep you updated on how it goes!!
Lots of Love Aim and Craig xx
