The valley is where teh tombs of the Pharoahs are. Excavations are still being done. Grave robbers took almost every thing of value from the tombs long before archaeology was a science. King Tut is a well known Pharaoh, but the only reason is because his is the only tomb to have been found that was not raided. The solid gold mask that you see often associated with the pharoahs was his. He only ruled for 10 years so they love to guess what would have been buried with the pharoahs who ruled for up to 60 years.
