From Estelli Bec and I caught another 2 buses to get to Leon. We arrived at the bus stop and walked through the streets to get to the hostel. It was about a 2km walk. The dirt streets were full of people selling their wares from little market stalls. This city was definitely how I was expecting most of the Latin American cities to be. Dirty, busy, loud and bloody hot. Bumped into some people at the hostel from San Pedro which was good. Spent the afternoon wondering the town and went to the movies that night. Saw the new Terminator movie. What a dissapointment it was.
When I woke in the morning the San Pedro crew were heading to Granada, I decided that I had seen all I really wanted to in Leon so went along with them. Granada was completely oposite to Leon. It had a clean colonial feel to the city. Checked into the hostel, which luckily had a pool as it was so hot and went exploring. We walked down to the lake which was a couple of kilometers away. Not much to do there so went back into town for a drink. This was our downfall. A lot of the bars here have happy hour. Two drinks for between 25 and 30 cordobas. This is approx 1.50AUD. Started on the Cube Libre's. Two hours later happy hours ended and we went out searching for some nightlife. Found a bar where we could buy a bottle of rum and mixers. This cost us 130 cordobas. The others had enough and were heading back to the hostel, it was around 1ish by this time. I wanted to head out some more. Met some locals in the bar who were about to head down to the lakeside bars and restaurants. I went along with them and had a huge night. I got back to the hostel after 8am. Spent the remainder of the day in bed. Repeated the drinking again the following night. I had to leave this city, it was getting a little to dangerous for my liver and kidneys.
