First day on the ship and my first thought, it's massive! Not sure how i'm not going to get lost in this thing. After going through alot of security and filling out even more forms I got shown to my cabin to meet my room-mate for the next 6 months. He's from the Phillippines and is one of the show cast so is in the same department as me.
My room is like a shoe box but at least I wont be spending much time in it with the amount there is to do on this floating town. After being shown to some of the crew areas, I was introduced to the technical team and my supervisor. I will be working in the Studio-B venue which is the ice-rink that puts on several shows and other events. The tech staff that i've met so far all seem very friendly and always helping me when I end up at completey the wrong end of the ship.
When I met the show ice skaters later on I was telling them about doing the Hot Ice last year and it turns out that two of them are from Blackpool!.... small world. My working hours vary each day depending on whats happening so will be trying to get time off in the ports when I can.
I am writing this just before I start my first shift working from 9.30pm until midnight setting up for a big carnival that they do each time the ship starts a cruise . The ship left Venice at 6pm and we are currently on our way to Koper in Slovenia.
It's been a mad busy day taking in alot of new information and starting work but tommorow I have an even busier day alternating between work and yet more safety meetings. Having great time but very tiring for these two weeks of training.
