Day 67- Day 71
So we had decided to head to Koh Phangan in time for the full moon party which was on the 17th November. After a relaxing week or two it was time to get back on the alcohol and party!
We got a bus followed by a boat to the island and checked into our rather posh looking guesthouse - Nidhra Boutique resort. This place was a bit far from the party beach but had a swimming pool! This was the first place we had been too with a decent pool so made full use of it during our stay.
Our stay also involved Mojitos at the beach bar, food from the night market, Green Goblin cider and drunken pool with French friends at the Irish pub and a night out at the Oasis bar playing rubbish House Music.
Day 72
With the full moon party approaching we decided to move nearer to the action and checked into "Baan Talay guesthouse". This place could not get any closer to the party, although the rooms were very basic, it was perfect for what we needed. On the first night we hung out with 2 Swedish couples and after a few buckets of vodka, red bull & sprite we went to a pool party. This was yet another surreal experience. Jumping into the pool, drinking from a sandcastle bucket and partying until the early hours of the next morning. We were so drunk we ended up getting on a Thai blokes moped and getting a ride home (yep 3 of us sitting on it), well Hannah hanging onto the driver for dear life and myself hanging off the back in my drunken state. The whole night/experience was amazing.
Day 73
We spent the day shopping for our Full Moon party attire and once bought we started drinking. We spent the evening with the Swedish, more Swedish oh and even more Swedish (in total probably about 10 of them). We were also joined by an American girl and Lebanese man. The night was amazing if not more amazing then the last. 25,000 - 30,000 people partied on the beach. After a while we went up to a bar and spent the evening/morning dancing on the tables overlooking the chaos down below. It also poured down halfway through the night which just added to the surrealism. An experience I would recommend to anybody and would love to do again.
Day 74
Woke up late, no surprises there! Had a chilled out day and dinner at a place called Planet Hollyfood and in the evening we had drinks and played cards with 2 American Girls (Sarah & Molly) and our Lebanese friend (Edwin) in a Reggae bar. We were taught a new card game - "Presidents & a*******s" and have been playing it ever since!
Day 75
We had the tastiest Schnitzels ever with the people from the night before and then in the early evening departed Koh Phangnan to Koh Tao. This was the most horrific boat ride ever! The journey took about 1 1/2 hours and as we left the waves were bumpy to say the least. The wall of luggage at the front of the boat was bouncing up and down it was so harsh. After 10 minutes a handful of people started throwing up from sea/motion sickness. By the end of the "ride" at least 85% of the passengers had been ill. I was fine until the person behind me reached and pushed their vomiting head into my chair! The whole deck erupted into heaving and Hannah was lucky enough to turn her ipod up full blast to avoid the sounds. This then carried on for approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes! Grim! Words cannot describe how rank it was....so here's a photo... Jokes!
