We met at 8am to head off to the falls, with a stop for breaky at Walmart first.
It was only about an hour drive and then a half hour walk through parkland etc and a few different viewing spots. We did the Maid of the Mist tour...it was mindblowing! It was really hard to take photos because it was so windy and you get really wet. Not to mention the people who had railing spots were not sharing or moving out of the way!
Anyway in the end I had to put my camera away and just enjoy it! Luckily it was a beautiful sunny day, and even though they give you a full length poncho, your arms and face still get drenched. But it was refreshing!
When we got off the boat, we walked up a side pathway right up to the side of it. I got more wet there than on the boat! But it was awesome and sounded so thunderous!
12.45pm we reconvened and sat in the shade under some trees and had some lunch: fruit and nuts that we couldn't take across the border, and some left over chicken wings.
Group consensus was to skip the Canadian side of the falls as we were behind schedule (due to the massive queues for the elevators down and back up from the boat wharf) and power on to Toronto. That's a little dissappointing as they say it's more spectacular! Oh well can't do anything about it, and I was blown away by the falls we did see anyway.
Back in the van and a short drive to get to the Canadian border and customs. We had to get out and go inside with our passports.
More driving for about an hour to get into Toronto.
We went to CN Tower for awhile, it's the 2nd tallest tower in the world (pretty sure that's what she said). It took ages going through security and lining up for the elevator. But the view was pretty cool, as was the glass floor where you can look down. Some of the guys did the walk where you get harnessed up and go outside...no thanks!
We made our way to the hostel around 7.15pm and had half hour to freshen up to go out. That is not long with 8 girls in a small room with 1 bathroom!
We caught the train (tram thing?) to Chinatown and had dinner at a chinese restaurant which was quite nice. We then went to a couple of bars and got home around 12.30pm. It's so humid still! Ick!
On to Montreal tomorrow!
