Sore neck. Darn homemade pillow of clothes!
Kitty breaky at the van before hitting the road around 9am. We drove about an hour until we reached Rosewell (aka Alienville). Some guy back in 1947 found a metal wreckage in his yard that was believed to be a crashed UFO. It was later proved to have been a weather balloon. We went to the tiny UFO museum for 20 mins.
Drove for half an hour or so before stopping at Walmart so JD could grocery shop to top up our food kitty. We wandered in Walmart and had lunch, then back on the road before 1pm to head for Santa Fe.
We hit Santa Fe about 4.30pm and wandered around town for 2 hours. All the buildings are brown and square and it's all about indians and beads. Oh help me...I found awesome bead earrings, 2 pairs for $10...but I didn't stop at just 2...hehe.
Back in the van at 6.30pm and off we went. There was nothing else to do in Santa Fe at night, so JD had arranged to take us for a BBQ at his friend's house out in the sticks. Meredith (who JD went to school with) and her partner Brian have a little house on 2.5 acres with lots of hiking trails. We made kebabs on skewers for the BBQ and played a little corn hole. After dinner there was a vague plan to go for a small hike to an amazing star gazing spot, but it was too cloudy. So we stayed indoors and Brian told us lots of tales. He has an enormous amount of knowledge of the history & geology of Santa Fe, so much that he's looking to start running tours in the area. He was lovely & very interesting. His 3 dogs were amusing too!
We left around 11pm to head to our motel. Big double beds each again!!! Yay!!! And a pillow, wooohooo!!! Bunking with Sophie tonight. Ahhh can't wait to jump into that bed...
Later,
Tracey
