Agnes Water, 1770, British girls and a rather rough surf lesson
Agnes Water, Queensland
After an uncomfortable overnight bus ride I arrived in Agnes Water where I was to meet my Laos partners in crime, Amelia and Lily. Expecting them to still be asleep at 10:30 I was surprised when they were not in my room. Feeling a desperate need to stretch my legs after my bus ride I decided to go on an ambitous run to the 1770 headland atleast 7KM away...in the midday sun...I did however manage to get this far and take some amazing pictures of the beach as I went. I reluctantly turned back around and began the long run back to the hostel in the even hotter sun...fortunately I was overed a lift, just as I was contemplating thumbing one back to the hostel, and glad to get out of the sun I took it back to the hostel where I found Amelia and Lily and began a rather less productive day dossing around the beach and hostel exchanging funny stories and enjoying the sausage fest that was the free evening BBQ. After my travel chums moved on North I took the opportunity to have my not so free surf lesson. I enjoyed the lesson and spent 2 hours being beaten around by the rough ocean, standing up a few times and riding a wave into the shore before the gruelling swim back over the waves to try and catch the next one. Eventually I ditched the board to jump around in the waves and embrace the roughness. Knackered doesn't even begin to desribe how I felt after my lesson and I was still pretty sore when I got up to take the bus on to Rainbow Beach the next day..
