Lucy and I are becoming quite seasoned travelers. To get to Lake Annecy we took 3 trains, 2 buses, 2 trams, and one rental car. Don't get me wrong we don't claim to be anything like Katie Yohe, but for your average Joe we are doing pretty well!
Lake Annecy is 50 minutes from the Geneva airport, 3 1/2 hours by train to Paris, and close to the Italian border. It is unbelievably gorgeous spot. It is the second largest lake in France and the cleanest lake due to environmental restrictions started in the 1960's. Lake Annecy is a haven for water sports such as boating, water skiing, paddle boarding and such. The area is also big into paragliding and cycling. The Tour de France has been staged here in the past. Skiing in the alps is 30 minutes away. Lake Annecy is the largest town but we stayed about 20 minutes around the lake in a little town called Talloires, France. We enjoyed walking around the lake and taking pictures, a quiet local dinner out, but mostly just looking at the beautiful lake and hills beyond. A highlight of our trip and a place we will never forget.
One month until we come home!
