It has been a couple weeks since logging on and Budapest feels like a lifetime ago! 3 days in Budapest let us see all the tourist attractions including the citadel and chain bridge. The highlight I would have to say was having a drink in the ruins bars; with a great atmosphere and derelict interior design! A fun city that I would definitely come back to! From Budapest we headed to Venice with a stop over in Verona which was a little underwhelming to say the least. Unless you have a rich love for Romeo and Juliet or another desire to visit the city it could easily be subbed out with days elsewhere.... We did the required tourist stop and visited Juliets house (having our picture taken at her statue and gave her boob a squeeze for good luck) then enjoyed some gnocchi and wine to pass the afternoon before we headed for Venice. Venice was as beautiful as I remember it! The canals and architecture clearly show why this is one of the most romantic cities in the world. Our airBnB was a stroke of luck, getting traditional Venetian style apartment overlooking a restaurant courtyard with wooden beamed high ceilings. Quaint and adorable! We visited San Marco to see the sinking church, had drinks on the Hilton roof top to see views of the city at night and spent many hours just wandering the canals soaking it in. If visiting I recommend skipping the Hilton as the city views are blocked by the end of the building and drinks are extremely over priced! Sitting in the restaurants in the piazzas is far more enjoyable for having a drink and soaking up the atmosphere, and a heck of a lot cheaper! From Venice we will hire a car and start really exploring, wish us luck xo
